Anyone else picked up this gem?

It is a Non-ascii roguelike dungeon crawler with tonnes of subtle humour and some great mechanics, only three pounds forty nine pence on steam.

Don't get it if you don't like dying though, it is very much a trial and error game and the tutorial is vital.

To give you a feel of the humour, wands have mechanic by which every time they are used they have a chance to be destroyed due to build up of entropy [which happens around ever 6 uses but can be averted with cleaning spells] and have names like Wand of Laser and Tesla Wand.

Ok that was a bad example of the humour but the game by no means takes itself seriously yet this doesn't impact the game, unlike something like deathspank that rammed its humour in your face DoD has the humour there but you are free to ignore it and play purely for the mechanics.

Better example, the in game necromancy/dark magic skill is referred to as necronomiconomics and is described as the study of undead economy.

I have a feeling me and this game will get a long very well...

It is a damn fine game, would recommend it to anyone who enjoys geeky humour, vikings or dungeon crawlers.

I got this game after watching WTF is Dungeons of Dreamor, its a really fun and accessible Rouge-like game! (it also helped that it was on sale)

Everytime I try to invest heavily in magic (2-3 spell types) though, it always doesnt go well

No one says bad things about Deathspank and lives!..... without getting a comment.

Loved deathspank's humor, and saying it rammed humor down throat is like saying MW rams gun's down your throat, it's an integral part of the game and the entire world of that game.

Does it have a demo or something?

@Soladrin Deathspank had its humour in your face at all times, if you didn't like this humour the game was pretty much ruined whereas in DoD if you don't like the humour you can pretty easily ignore it with no ill effect.

I don't think it has a demo but it is pretty cheap.

But but.. being pure caster is what I'd want to do...

May need to try it though. Undead Economy, love it.

Well main problem with getting a lot of magic is that you'll start to run out of mp really fast and a few of the beginning spells arent that good (I summon......evil spoons!) I always find it necessary to have at least one weapon skill

Man I'm slow, didnt notice all the new achievements. So many references!

You die pretty fast no matter what your specs are so it isn't really a problem.

I don't see the problem.

In one game the humour ruins it if you don't like that humour, in the other if you don't like the humour it isn't a problem and it is still a great game.
