CURRENT EVENTS: TARVO: Full arms expanding West, Controls North Awecur, researching steam. NAVAR: Expanding north with a large force, building mines and fortifications, colonizing western isles, investigating advanced navigation tech, controls south Awecur AWECUR: Holdout in Olso and Constantinople, broken HARAD: Invading the Zuestra Raider Camps, medium forces, advancing propellants. Nytheria: 1/4 of military given to Tarvo, ADVANCEMENT: Water wheel. DRINNSHLEIK: Acquired black-powder, advancing tech. IRONGUARD: Improving metallurgy, constructing weapons. All other fighters have yet to report.
Well RPers of Dakka, I've decided to throw in my lot to our fair role-play forum.
This is nation based world conquest. This means that every player will start off with their own nation, and work towards ruling the entire world (Europe). You can base your nation off of anything you want to, or make it up completely. Your choice. But remember, we will all start off at a Mid-evil era tech level. Bows and swords, one might say. As we progress, you can advance your technology and nation. You can expand your nation by diplomacy, religion, invasion, wealth, or any other way you can (reasonably) imagine.
I'll run this with the PM system. For those of you new, you simply PM me your actions, and I'll factor them with others to show what happens. You can post things happening in your nation, things happening with any characters you want to have, and things you're going to do that you want public.
TEMPLATE:
Nation: The name, obviously, and flag, if you so please.
People: What kind of people inhabit your nation. Black, White, Asian, furry, etc.
Government: How you rule your nation. Military Rule, Republic, Empire, Church, etc.
Ruler: Who rules the country. In essence, your character. King Testikles, Chairman Boppity, etc.
Population: How many people inhabit your nation. Rough numbers, such as 1,500,000, 1,500,000, etc. No going over 2,000,000, and I will ensure reasonable populations
Economy: What drives your income and out-come and current status of wealth. Sell excess farm food, buy weapons, poor, wealthy, etc.
Tech: What kind of technology you specialize in, current advancements, and research ability. (NOTE: Influences technological progress.) Locomotion, Weaponry, Naval, etc.
Military: The fighters of your nation: Factored by:
Quantity: Miniscule (2,500)......Small (5,000)....Average (7,500)....Big (10k).....Massive (12,500)....Endless (15k)....All-Consuming (15k+)
Quality: Invincible..................Elite................Professional...........Trained........Draft....................Militia................Peasant
(Note: You must balance these factors. If your army is all-consuming, then it must be cannon fodder. If it's invincible, then it must be miniscule.)
History: Any relevant biography for your nation and it's people. Origins, major geography, major events, etc
Map and nations, along with sample nation, run by me, who will only influence the world via trade, unless I need to unleash my armies. And yes, we'll call this the entire world, unless I feel we need more room.
KASRKAI
Nation: Kasrkaos
People: Nordic
Government: Republic
Ruler: Council of Representatives, Chairman
Population: 2,100,000
Economy: Sells metals and wood, imports food and cloth, Average wealth.
Tech: Specializes in metallurgy and forging. Has developed advanced cannons and alloys.
Military: Big Elite
History: Kasrkaos was founded by an Asian warlord, who ran straight to power in the frozen lands by conquering neighbors. Initially an empire, the nation has since voted into a stable republic. Large mountains and frozen wastes make invasion a nightmare. These mountains also provide metal and forests to export weapons and wood, and thus import farm foods and domestic animals not found in the wastes. Has little concern for the southern nations beyond trade.

Nation: Awecur. (Means terror growl...............scary or what)
People: Mostly Caucasian and Indo Asian
Government: Council based with 10 representatives of the various major tribes and clans.
Ruler: Alaric Koch IV, Grand Duke of Constantinople.
Economy: Slavery, Raids. Wealthy from leftover coffers of a dead empire.
Tech: Naval Warfare and Technology specialists. Their technology has stagnated over the years, following the destruction of the Greek empires. They now rely heavily on trade and raids.
Military: The military might of is made from a mix of trained professionals and mercenaries, with emphases on Naval combat and raiding.
Quantity: Big
Quality: Trained
History: I'll work on this. But its going to have to do with the fall of the roman empire, the barbarian hordes moving east into greece and turkey, and subjugating the Ogres and Giants along the way

Nation: Raindomtopia
People: Pale, black hair, and eyes.skinny. Also have rainbow troll golems as 'pets'.
Government: cultist state
Ruler: He who speaks to the rainbow god. HWSTTRG for short.
Economy: Export Exotic weapons, foods, slaves, and pleasure tools.
Tech: Exotic Weaponry, Recreational tools.
Military: Small Professional
History: a tribal people until one saw a rainbow that talked to him and gave him the will to become *ahem* civilized. they became great at war and started the cult of the rainbow god. the sacrifice the evil and the good alike to him and have pleasure parties in his name they also learned how to make rainbow troll golems to use as pets,workers,and soldiers. they now seek to grow stronger.

Nation- Navar
People- Multi Cultured, allows immigration only when not in war though.
Government- Republic, each race gets two representatives. One member is voted Head Representative he has the final decision in everything.
Ruler- Head Representative Nicholas.
Economy-Exports excess food and metals, imports wood and medicine
Tech- Specializes in Naval and heavy artillery, lacks a lot of medical knowledge and relies on foreign medicines mostly. ADVANCES: Crude Cannons.
Military- Small Elite
History- Was created when a group of humans and a group of elves both escaping genocides in their countries formed a community together. It grew with the ideal of a safe haven for the oppressed. Although most of these ideals were broken when many who came turned out to be criminals. The country came close to anarchy, before the council created the strict immigration processing and police force. During this unrest they also came under attack by many of their neighbors looking to control the smaller country, and for years their entire scientific focus came to military uses. This resulted in the creation of their multiple powerful warmachines as well as it's expert navy, which use an experimental type of engine kept secret from others. It allowed them to quickly move even their heaviest ship to outmaneuver their enemy. They have now grown to be a small but respectable nation and have returned to most of their previous ideals.

THE BRINGER
Nation: Drinnshliek
People: Cave trolls and drow
Government: Similar to feudal system, the seven heads of the country are dark elves.
Ruler: 7 Lords or Ladies, first child of the current ruler becomes the next.
Economy: Livestock are abundant on the surface, and are a major export. The trolls are either miners or blacksmiths.
Tech: Underground specialization, Troll basic metal weapons, Drow fine weapons and luxuries.
Military: Massive Draft, +7 Invincibles
History:
Aren, Aszmyn, Veryn, Tatlon, Sabryn, Jhaunae, and Raebeya were seven elf siblings. Their mother was Dranuen, and their father the god Alilrae Tilntarr. They were born in Kasrkaos, and lived in the northwestern region.
They lived in peace and isolation, till one day rumor spread among superstitious wives of their existence, and it was believed that they were demons, destined to destroy Kasrkaos. Rumors multiplied and grew, until one day a bold group of warriors crossed into their home and slaughtered their mother.
The children of Alilrae fled to the west. They found a ship and started a journey to cross the ocean. They sailed and sailed, and finally landed on the island of Drinnshliek, inhabited completely by barbaric trolls - who lived in caves and tunnels that penetrated the entirety of the island.
The children were forced to become masters of the blade to survive in the barbaric land. Their greatest weapons were stealth and cunning. They saw that their father had favored them, and so they built a shrine honoring him, and then swore an oath to each other, that they would for eternity protect each-other and conquer this foul land, making it their own.
That night they each took up their weapons and started a bloodbath, killing every troll warlords and leader they could find. Within a year, they had killed every troll who assumed authority over others - and hell was breaking loose. Trolls were turning on trolls, and every fight was one for survival.
They carved out the island into seven provinces, named after them. They forced the trolls into submission, slaughtering all who disobeyed their orders - however the trolls soon came to respect their dark-elf masters. Though the trolls were stronger than them, the drow had infinitely superior cunning, finesse, and beauty.
Alilrae blessed the brothers and sisters with long life, and gave them each a husband and wife from amongst his other children.
The drow siblings died after a few centuries. Their children took the same oath they did, swearing to protect each-other even if it led them to their own death. Down through the ages they perfected the art of swordsmanship and manipulation. They could make a man kill himself if it was their will, and they could strike down small armies by themselves. - and their troll underlings grew less and less warlike.
The drow and trolls live in caves, tunnels, anywhere where darkness was greater than sunlight. They let predators and herds roam the surface, coming up and slaughtering them for food whenever they need them.

MORDOSKUL
Nation: Tarvo
People: Mostly Caucasian
Government: Monarchy backed by various noble houses
Ruler: Lord Kassius IV of the House of Kelov
Population: 1,500,000
Economy: Regulated Free Market
Tech: Calvary, printing-press, crude rifles
Military: Trained Big, Cavalry
History: Seven hundred years ago, the land of Callaka (modern day Tarvo) was populated by dozens of warring barbarian tribes that cared little for the trappings of civilization. Numerous disparate city-states lay scattered about Callaka, content to war with one another over small glories. There was one man, however, of the Tarvii who possessed visions of an empire. That man was Abelard, and he possessed the manpower and cunning to bring his dreams to fruition. Leading his warriors into battle against the Ostrogi, the Talii, the Vesterlans, and dozens of other Callakan tribes, Abelard assembled the Grand Host, which he took to the plains of Ukr and beyond, leaving cities smashed and villages emptied. The Ukr Wars lasted for eight years, and saw a unified Tarvo emerge from the ruins of dozens of city-states. Abelard understood that if his Empire was to survive, he needed to keep the numerous slave states in line. Thus was the Consul created to ensure that each such state was overseen by a loyal Tarvii warlord. Five more years passed, and Abelard grew restless, feeling the call to war once again. Raising the Grand Host to war, he marched to the end of the sea, subjugating the various peoples that dwelt there. His conquest at an end, Abelard was purported to have wept, for the world was his, nothing could challenge him. He then bade his shield bearer to kill him, for he saw no point in living without the thrill of conquest. As the warrior raised his sword, an arrow pierced his heart, launched from heathen bow. Warriors from modern day Nytheria had landed their vessels on the shore, and had begun to pepper the Grand Host with arrows. Abelard was both overjoyed and enraged, there were still those that opposed him, his empire had not united all as he had thought. The next decade was marked by brutal fighting as the Tarvo invaded Lehmania (modern day Nytheria in an event known as the Battle of the Red Sea, as the ocean itself ran red with the blood of attacker and defender alike. Abelard himself burned down the sacred groves of the Lehmanians, an act that enraged the natives, who retaliated brutally in the Battle of the Mohrn, and nearly dislodged the Tarvo from their island home. The Tarvo pushed back with alarming speed and cruelty, dragging Lehmanian prisoners behind their chariots by their entrails. When Abelard captured the capitol of Avernod, he ordered every Lehmanian prisoner to be tied to a stout wooden pole. Abelard then rode past the great line, decapitating every prisoner with a stroke of his sword. Lehmania now under Tarvo control, Abelard made to return to Callaka, but died from a fever on the return trip. Decades later, the Tarvo began to lose control of their slave-states in Lehmania and those on the coast, and a bloody civil war raged as the Consul slaughtered the rebels. Tarvo won the conflict, but lost a great deal of land as a result, a loss they have not recovered from to this day. Today, however, King Kassius IV has assembled the Grand Host once again, and means to restore the Empire of Tarvo to its former splendor.

People: Celts, Bronze Elves.
Government: Military rule that uses an aristocratic system that votes, while an military high general is the leader who has an final say on all voting session.
Ruler: The high emperor Dante Garland VI
Population: 1,750,000
Economy: Precious metals, mass produced various goods
Tech: Mass produced, architecture.
Military: Average professional
History: The nation was formed by an union of several city states that feared they were too small by themselves. the houses than formed an aristocratic government lead by an capable general. After an century the general's family became the expected rulers as each generation became more suited and capable than the last. The aristocrats have the power to elect someone else to be the High Emperor. The military might is even spread out along the borders with an portion of the army in the center waiting for any form of invasion.

People: A short race ranging from 4 feet to 4 feet 9 inches in height they have white skin.
Government: A Representative democracy in which the the leader serves for life.
Ruler: Bronzfist Of Forging, and is aid Fistbeard McBeardfist. Capitol: Ghostboards
Population: 235,000
Economy: Vast supplies of metals, and hybrid metals
Tech: Metal Working, Pickaxes for mining, Mining, forging, Underground cities, and Siege Weapons
Military: The bulk of the army is made up of men to power the siege weapons, the rest is archers.
Quantity: Small 5,000
Quality: Elite
History: (This is what is written in the history books form them) The nation was founded in the year 2, it never bothered to expand they had all they needed, so they stayed mostly neutral after awhile they discovered how to combine some metals with others to make even better metals that wear harder lighter, and used less raw materiel (some how), they at some point started to envelope vast quantities of large machines of war, that did stuff, they didn't know what exactly because they never needed to use them. so one day the Valiant Coperhead decided to test one, on a more relevant note he was the first ruler. So the Great nation Of Irongraud was formed.
INDEPENDENT STATES:
Mishagehn: A popular port city by any standard, Mishagehn is THE hub of seaward trade and communication. The city of 100,000 is a completely free democracy, the only law being the rules of the tight-nit groups families and friends, a system which works surprisingly well. Any nation or people can walk into the city, whatever their business, without worry, as long as their intentions are clean.
Los Guerreros: Collection of three loosely connected cities, Guerreros has little in the way of an army or navy, but is rather a huge expanse of farms and forestry, exporting huge amounts of material for cloth and other minor needs.
Zuesta: An area claimed by a group of raiders. Has no government.

I'll divide the map according to the players and their nations. I gave Kasrkaos a very simple border up north. I'll update it regularly to show expansion, invasion, capitals, and major discoveries.

I'm trying to avoid out-right magic, unless you guys really want to, but you don't necessarily have to have humans or real animals, so long as it's basically possible.
So yes, you could have Troll, Orcs, Cat-people, and Lizards, but no witches or wizards.

OK (that dinner was an ordeal. my parents flipped out when I refused to back down on 'holding the knife in the left hand is perfectly fine') I am happy to see a thread like this up. I do this hombrew thing with my cousins every christmas break/summer. and have a lot of experience (i also made it so when a war happens we use 40k-ish mechanics on a terrein set up table with plastic soldiers as infantry...not ONE of my beach landings has been successful!) anyways Wayland. 'oo iz yoo lookin at git?' it is too hot for trolls in Waland. (trolls are silicate life forms that eat rocks and stand at termie/dread hight but the heat makes these normally violent creatures brains overheat and turn to slag)

Alright, I'm going to say each nation can have a special native, be it giants or orcs or whatever (Which I would think Orc, like lord of the rings) But then again, your orcs could become orkz as we advance through the ages.

Tech-Specializes in Naval and heavy artillery, lacks a lot of medical knowledge and relies on foreign medicines mostly.
Military-Small numbers of highly trained soldiers uses varying races to their advantage. Focused on defense while the artillery does it's damage.
History-Was created when a group of humans and a group of elves both escaping genocides in their countries formed a community together. It grew with the ideal of a safe haven for the oppressed. Although most of these ideals were broken when many who came turned out to be criminals. The country came close to anarchy, before the council created the strict immigration processing and police force. During this unrest they also came under attack by many of their neighbors looking to control the smaller country, and for years their entire scientific focus came to military uses. This resulted in the creation of their multiple powerful warmachines as well as it's expert navy, which use an experimental type of engine kept secret from others. It allowed them to quickly move even their heaviest ship to outmaneuver their enemy. They have now grown to be a small but respectable nation and have returned to most of their previous ideals.

Guess I'll have to expand the military section.
I suppose you could have your Big Trained navy army, and then a smallish force of commando elites. That would make sense.
@Nicholas Your nation's focus on artillery has led me to give you crude cannons. Enjoy them.
