Irked Blood Angel Scout with Combat Knife
|
I recently decided on the Flesh Tearer Colour scheme for my blood angel army after couple months of grey models and I was had a few Questions cause i would like to keep the scheme on my entire army.
1. I added a librarian to some of my Army Lists and my friend had told me librarians were still blue no matter the chapter so I was wondering if he had to be blue or could I do a nice dark red?
2. Would it be ok to paint my Sanguinary Guard with the FT Scheme aswell, a nice dark red with black wings?
Possibly Dante aswell but that might be weird

a.) It is your army. Paint them how ever you please. If you think that the most ultimate paint scheme for your blood-angel based army (so flesh tearers) would be best represented by a pink and yellow and a flower wreath instead of a circular saw: go for it!
b.) Librarians are indeed blue... not 100% blue, experience tells me they carry one pauldron in the color of their originating chapter, like deathwatch and tech marines. That being said, you can paint them how you please. It might be worth doing him in neither blue nor purple. Have a think, its your army, and while you should be painting things to GW fluff standard if you play a GW fluff army, its ultimately your decision of what you are happy with putting on the table.
c.) im nervous about sanguinary guard inside a flesh tearer chapter... i just plain don't feel that it fits the fluff. Again though, paint the wings as you please
the one thing I will warn you about: if you got sick of grey, you will get right sick of red pretty quick too, so think hard about what colors you want to use. The wings might be nicer done in a reddish non-gloss metallic (not suggesting you go non-metallic-metal PainJob (which it will be because i get the sense you are just starting out painting)
Don't paint monochrome: i did that and ended up hating my army afterward, and I became sick of the color green.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

They're your models man, paint them how you want!
If you have a theme, paint them around your theme (which you do). The librarian only needs to be blue if you are sticking to fluff, even then not all chapters follow convention.

My libs in my DA army are black - just like the rest of the army (original chapter colours - I hated it when they went green!!)
Might do a blue shoulder pad.

1. According to existing fluff, Librarian armor is most often depicted in one of 2 ways. First, is the aforementioned all blue with chapter pauldron color scheme. The second way, is that the Librarian has his armor fully in the color of his chapter, but has some sort of blue marking, often just the shoulder trim, or the psychic hood color. Either way, its your army, and you should experiment some.
2. Not sure how exactly they Sanguinary guard fits into the Fleshtearers, but it is your army, you could possibly give them a different name to fit the chapter theme. But the colors you are talking about on the wings, if done right, i think could look great.
I agree that Dante could be weird, though I wouldn't discount the use of him in your armies.. perhaps scratch build him so he looks good in your color scheme?

Dante in a FT army is a bit of a stretch considering you have a chapter master in the book, but it is your army.
Your Libby can be all blue or just blue parts or no blue at all. As weird as it sounds I like the blue Libby in my BA. Try regal blue with ultra highlights, iyandyn yellow and bubonic brown highlighted with bleached bone for his robes, and black shoulderpads

Of course you can truly do whatever you want, but my take? You have to paint all the important people in your army a color that stands out so that they can be shot first by the enemy. ::Rolls eyes at GW for their lack of military knowledge.::
