Only buying pre owned miniatures, GW is ripping its customers off and thinks they're too stupid to know it :(

They were expensive before, and they're still expensive... Nothing has changed in the scheme of things.
I will keep buying like I always have.

The 10 Marines are 30 EUR...
4 colors are 10 EUR...
1 codex is 40 EUR...

went into the local shop today, i got a senital, 3 paints and 2 brushes and it came to £28.90

and the pots are half full :O

I honestly don't give a rat's behind about the price hike. I don't buy enough stuff for it to affect me.

My overall buying habit has not changed at all, I still buy what i need when I can.

Until I saw this thread I didn't realize there had been a price hike. I don't buy enough for it to really affect me much, but I'm not going to cry and moan because of a few extra dollars lost when I do buy. Honestly, it's an expensive hobby, and always has been. I knew that going in. People are just angry at Games Workshop for biting them, despite the fact that they knew it was a snake when they picked it up.

It's not like me not buying is going to affect them, but I don't want to blow all my money on new stuff. So I just round out the armies that I have, and let that be it.

When did the price get hiked again?

I don't buy GW product new unless I absolutely have to (so new Codex/Armies releases, or rule books), or unless I find a good sale. Thankfully, I already own most everything that I need for the armies in my collection.

I've always only bought what I needed for my army when I could afford it.

IMO, you knew this was an expensive hobby coming in, when you had to drop 80 bucks on the core rulebook and an Army Specific Rulebook, followed by another 500 or so for a new 2k point army(about how much my first army cost back in 3rd with Necrons, Tau was alot less because I bought them from a Friend. He was going to sell them and I learned how to play 40k with his Tau, so if they were going anywhere, it was with me.)


Now unless you are one of those guys who buys armies every time a codex comes out and you are complaining that all you have to eat is Baked Beans and Ramen Noodles, you'll prolly get your 500 dollars worth of entertainment from an army, through playing it/painting it/converting models(Whatever you like doing in Warhammer). If you do buy an army every time a codex comes out and all you eat is baked beans and Ramen Noodles because of it, Your fault. L2Budget.

I kind of fall on both ends of the spectrum. My current collection is a split between secondhand and discount reseller models, so I never payed full price for anything, but that's how I could afford models, at the time. I had already stopped buying some time ago, as I wasn't playing, so I didn't need to round off a list, and I already had a huge painting backlog. That still holds true, so I'm not really any less likely to buy again because of a few extra bucks per purchase. I just have no idea when or what my next purchase might be, assuming it ever happens. Kind of hard for a price hike to change a zero-spending habit.

When I started, the BRB was 40 bucks and a box of 16 Dark Eldar was... 20? 25? A Codex was 15. Not only did I not know it was a snake (and it wasn't when I started, IMO) I didn't even know there were other games like it by other companies out there. Things have progressively gotten worse with GW and better with the rest of the industry.

There's plenty of other excellent games out there with beautiful minis at reasonable prices.

GW can stuff it right up their Eye of Terror.

Inflation sucks, the economy sucks, I'm dealing with it. I don't buy cases of minis that I will never use, I never intended on doing that, anyway. I buy pieces that I can afford, and if I can't, I deal with it.

It's called financial maturity. I'm not going to whine that they are writing themselves out of business, this, like any hobby, has always been expensive. Deal.

I have every army but Sisters and I need to fill out my Dark Eldar and IG armies. I will be getting those second hand. I will not be paying this bs price hike. I hope GW doesn't close it's doors because of it.

I go to the game shop and I can not tell people there to get into the hobby. I'm like. Spend $300 and only get 2 Troops choices, Codex, Rules, HQ and two Transports. Or you can buy the whole set of War Machine. Well if I can spend only $150 and get all I need for a miniature game I'll go the cheap way. So guess what people are buying at the store? War Machine.

I do like 40K better but it's an unbalanced game and it's getting stupid expensive. I've read the latest number for GW's profits but I think they are hiding loses. I'm not sure how long they can last when people are not making the money they used to. At least in America the Economy sucks and people just don't have the funds to buy like they did before.

I really wish GW would have went cheaper to get more sales as profits instead of a slight decrease in sales but made up for in a price hike.
