Not sure if it belongs here so here we go. I have a bunch of death company figures because I like the look and would like too paint them up as vanguard veterans. My question is would this bother you to play against, and what about from a tournament prospective is this legal and ok? They would be painted up like blood angel vanguard veterans and not death company.

Absolutly fine with me and any level headed player. You aren't stretching things really, plenty of people take Death Company bits and throw them on all sorts of Blood Angel units.

I use regular marines as sternguard at times. They have distinguishing marking but were built from the tactical marine box.

Would have no problem, my trueborn are the same as my warriors. If they do care ask why and if the respond that they were not sold as vanguard just walk away.

The only difference my vanguard veterans have over my regular assault marines is the paintjob.

My blood angels are black with orange shoulderpads, my vanguards have gold helmets, that is the only difference, and my opponents have no issues with it.

I would have no issue with it either. I suspect, as long as they are different and WYSIWYG as vanguard, Most if not all people would not even notice and or care that they are not the VV models.

Edit Spelling.

Yeah, no trouble with it. The fact that my sanguinary guard are now honour guard for the vinalla codex is the same thinh happening here, and there is almost no difference between my sternguard and tactical squads arpart from mior conversions and paintjob.

As long as the opponent knows what they are it should be fine

Blood Angel veterans have a well established marking scheme - pretty much any models will do providing they have the correct weapons.

Are they painted as honour guard or as sanguinary guard?

I have never known the reason why I should pay $50 for 5 veterans when they look nearly identical to regular tac and assault marines and I use my extra regular guys as counts-as veterans all the time. I don't think anybody at a tournament has a leg to stand on as long as the model has the correct wargear and is a GW model.
