I like your Nurgle style and I don't like Nurgle in general so that's saying a lot... your Obliterator is very cool. I think it is the effect of those very well painted lenses combined with the three points of color, yellow, blue and red to make a strong color combo, rather than having a face as a focal point. Rather than just using Nurgle green.

If I were you I would think about using some liquid effects to make it look like joints are oozing. I know I could do a lot even with my hot glue gun to get some slimey, liquid effects (not too much though). Or even just joints that are oozing black oil. Possibly using glazes, water effects, and experiment with different textures, not just colors.

The paint peeling effect is very nice, the best I've seen for the paint actually peeling off, but the placement seems too random and even to me. I would expect the paint to be coming off more in more well used areas of the tank or more diseased blotches of it. Instead, is it just evenly pockmarked everywhere.

Cheers!

nikolakhs wrote:The liquid effects is a good one! I like it! I may do some variation of that once everything is painted and based. This army will be based on a muddy battlefield with some slushy snow here and there, as if the snow has just begun, so some oozing might fit right in with this whole army! As for the paint peeling, I agree with you 100%. When I do the salt method I can't really control it too well, but, I have to patch up the parts that were missed after all's been said and done with dark brown paint, so in the future, on all my vehicles, areas around doors and windows and hatches will be flakier. I like the haphazard pattern of the flakes, because just like in reality, you can't 100% predict the weakest spots in a coat of paint, and sometimes a seemingly random spot starts to rust. -Nikolakhs

Oh nice. I see that when people play around with Nurgle themes they all go crazy with greenstuff, and colors especially green and brown and rusty colors, but they don't play around with textures as much as they could. For instance combining rusty, scratchy textures with glossy, oozing textures, and cobweb-like mold growth. Personally I would play with a hot glue gun and see what different effects I could get. It's so cheap and easy. I might still try that on my chaos spawn even though I am not a nurgle guy.

I see what you are saying about the paint flakes. The salt method is impressing me more than the sponge method at the moment (but only for like tanks and vehicles), it also seems easier than painting flakey bits on, plus you get that actual texture. Did you try hairspray method too?

Loving these updates! And can't wait to check out that baneblade once it's painted. The conversions are my favs, of course. Especially that big obliterator.
