A little something I did a while ago. Criticism always welcome.

I dig him. The shading is really nice, and the rust effect is convincing. However, I don't like that the rusted armor and his pants are so close to one another in color. While that does draw attention to the face, it completely loses the body. The only thing he's missing is basing!

By the way, how did you paint that rust effect? It looks simple yet effective.

Very nice colours, I have to agree with Brother SRM, but all in all it is a really nicely painted model, well done! The skin is really nicely done in particular, that face is very cool!

Yeah at the time I had a limited selection of brown paints so I didn't have much to work with. I have since remedied that problem(last trip to the LGS I bought about 6 shades of brown).

The rust is Mig Pigments Standard Rust. For these I suggest using it's own brush as the pigment is a bitch to clean off a brush. So I have a brush I use just for pigments.

Excellent work! I like the dirt, rust and chipped paint on the armour/klaw. It looks like a Warboss who has been in the trenches for awhile, which is exactly where an Ork is at its best.

I like the cartoonish hue to the skin. Unlike SRM I think the pants being close in colour to the rust helps tie it together a bit.

GAK! I just noticed the mold line on the skull!!!! And I no longer have the model to rectify it! Oh well, live and learn.

It looks good but why the square base.

The piece was painted for my grandmother as a gift(all she asks from me these days) hence the square base and why the base is bare. Didn't have time to flock it properly.

I really like it, but seeing as your looking for criticism...

The battle damage on the power claw and belt glyph looks pretty bad. I'd recommend the whole "black damage with boltgun filling it in" as it looks a whole lot better.

As others have said the armor scheme draws the eye straight to the face, but the whole body kinda just blobs together because of the similar colors and lack of obvious highlighting (i'm color blind so that might be the issue).

Everything else though looks great; convincing rust effects, good looking skin, nice shadow in the recess, etc...

Keep up the good work!

You love it you slags!

This is how I did the rust.
