The codex says up to 3 accolytes may exchange their weapons for a: ....

Would you take this to mean that only 3 may take those options,

OR

That each option may be taken 3 times?

Up to 3 acolytes means 0 - 3 may take the following weapons

Well I guess technically an Acolyte could take 2 weapons as the rule says "and/or" so you could have up to 6 weapons over those three models but I can't think of any reason to do this as you can only fire one or the other.

The way it is worded, i was thinking that 3 accolytes coulde take meltas and 3 others could take combi-meltas.

It is a stretch but could be very useful. I was seeing what other players take on that would be.

No. Up to three models can exchange their weapons for another weapon set. If it was to work the way you think, it would be worded "Up to three models can exchange their weapons for each weapon set".

Mind you there is the And/or, which means the 3 acolytes may exchange their Laspistols for 1 gun, and their Chainswords for another.

Plasmagun & Storm Shield for 34 points, backed up by some Crusaders and Death Cult.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.
