It's embarrassing to forget a squad has fearlessness, and remember the turn after they've fallen back that they should have kept that objective. Or going out of your way to put a priest in harm's way just to give furious charge to a squad that always has it.
So, dakka, how do you represent which squads have succumbed to the red thirst? I decided to make a special Sanguinor's Chosen sergeant, but I'm trying to decide what "looks good" besides a paper counter or something.

I think having a black banner with the red death company X symbol on it, looks pretty nice.

Make a few models holding them, and have them standing by?

A non-dice marker is probably the way to go, as dice tend to get picked up by accident.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

I just used the tattered banner, that comes with GW VC skeletons, mounted on its own base. But I guess you could have someone hold it... But if they get shot you would loose it.
Another solution if you have magnetised jump packs, would be to give black DC jump packs to squads with Red Thirst.

You could mount said banner and some surplus gear on an empty base, and simply move it along with the unit.

Make alternate sergeant's and paint red veins on their faces as well as making their faces a little more pale. I think that would present the red thirst nicely.

How about a red thirst table, with a pitcher and cups? Like the lemonade stands that sprout up from little kids when it gets super hot.

I would buy a unit of DC and paint them up. For each squad that fails I would just swap one of the models. This is a nice excuse to use those really awesome looking DC models that Rage makes so difficult to actually field. (yes I know the Red Thirst and Black Rage are different :p)

Seconded. I put little plastic pieces of cheese on the base of a model to mark units affected by Grand Strategy and it works great.

I have taken the extra bits from the bastion, specifically the murderhole replacement bits and used those. (not the heavy bolters but the I guess would be tablets) They have an acolyte on them and a lot of purity seals so I think it is a good sign. Glue them onto a separate base and go.

I use beads (the same kind in Mancala) to mark Red Thirst, Pain Tokens, and which units have shot. I know our local hobby store has a 20-pack for like $3. I just picked up a couple different colors and mixed them up.
