I was reading somewere about necron teleportation tech and aparently they can teleport anywere in the galexy with extreme accuracy and range e.g.
a necron invading fleet teleports INTO a planets almosphere behind its orbital defences without the use of a portal on the other side they do this with extreme range and precision e.g. on side of the galexy to the other

can anyone confirm this

heres something i found http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Void_Dragon

Apparently they do not teleport. They instead travel at unimaginable faster than light speed to other parts of the galaxy without jumping from "this" reality. What is for sure is that they don't use the warp. They loathe and despise it. I ignore the how phase out works without telporting though... Maybe they use other dimensions not warp related.

Necrons have non warp based FTL and teleport technology. There is no indication on what the limits of the teleport range is, but it doesn't seem to be galaxy wide. If it were, they'd be effectively unbeatable, since they'd be able to concentrate the forces of several tomb worlds on a single objective.

Necrons have both non-Warp FTL travel (Inertialess Drives), and phase technology.

Phase technology has never really been completely explained, but the way I look at it, from planetary distances or a little over, Necrons can teleport basically anywhere, but to go beyond that the Necrons and their ships have to be teleporting to a designated Tomb World.

The only apparent exception to this is Iori Delta Tove, which could allegedly teleport anywhere at will.

Don't they move all the matter from point A to B to the side then it's like stepping through a doorway. Whether or not that's true all of it is magic.

This and this are fairly old news stories; but I believe necrons supposedly use the 'suped' up equivalent technology.

I actually just recalled a Necron story in the codex.

Yeah, Necrons were able to walk through a portal on a ship I think it was that originated from a chunk of Living Metal, that began to grow and develop into a gate as some stupid Imperial Commander powered it.

This was in space, so to travel extraplanetary distances, I think they need some sort of Necron tech to home in on.

Yes necrons have both true FTL travel and accurate non warp teleportation. The very little fluff concerning necron teleportation suggests that they bend space and then step from point to point, this doesn't seem to require portals (although necrons certainly have portals for some types of teleportation) . There are many instances of necron armies just appearing out of thin air, no portals or any other kind of device.

When invading necrons often do just teleport in, kill everything and teleport out. When the necrons began to wake up but before the IoM had discovered necrons they kept sending soldiers to check on worlds that had stopped contact only to find the entire planet empty but with no attempts to call for help.

The asteroid with the gate on it was a Monolith, which regenerated when they fed power to it. It's described as a small fortress with weapons at the corners and a gate in one face

Liths make convenient travelling gates for teleportation.

It was a stupid Inquisitor if i remember right. Daska? something like that... The Imperial commander was smart, and nuked the space hulk it was found on, and every chunk of rubble large enough to target, once the necrons started coming through.

I love Necron Tech

I cannot remember it being a Monolith, but if it was, apparently Necrons can grow Monoliths. Because starting out, it was only three meters in diameter and 33 tons, which is smaller than a Monolith. Living Metal is so boss.

So Necrons have an inertialess drive, right? That sounds like, for at least that form of transportation, the mirror Mass Effect. That is, the Necrons have found a way to reduce their mass to 0 while travelling, allowing them to move across the galaxy at incredible speed, much faster than light (or so one would imagine)
As well, it might explain the 'phase-out,' as an object with no mass most likely cannot be interacted with.

It grows backwards from the gate as they feed it obscene amounts of power to form what they term a 'small fortress' with weapons at the corners, and then necrons come out of the portal in front. The story is on Pg 10 of the Necron codex, and it's one of my favorites.

'The asteroid fragment, which had been fist shaped, was now larger, forming a smooth wall behind the portal and seemed to be expanding backwards like a small fortress. The surfaced looked like obsidian, braced with silver, and from its core emanated a pulsing, sickly green glow'

'As at each corner of what was now a small fortress projections that were plainly weapons were taking form'

'Lightning shot from the alien device's weapons to tear at the men around it... the portal flared and a hunched metallic creature stepped through it.'

'As for that device, that black monolith, i have no idea..'

In short, Necron tech is awesome, and yes, they can grow Monoliths, but it takes a lot of juice .

It also implies that a Monolith masses something like a small moon
