Currently heroing or brand take-overing on You Tube.

It seems to be an SF film in which Liam Nielson is a admiral and some famous actor I don't recognise is a bad boy lieutenant who will obviously come good and save the day by the end.

The navy is attacked by a bunch of alien robot war machines.

Any thoughts?

I think they're trying to hard to remain true to the boardgame. They should have gone for something a bit more out there.

I can't poke around youtube where I am now, someone needs to post that Robot Chicken sketch about new movies based on board games. I liked 'Hungry Hungry Hippos... hungry for JUSTICE' the best of those.

If i had to guess the plot.

Alien ship crash lands in ocean.

Navy show up before repairs are complete.

Seals off an area (dome in the trailer)

Fights with Navy

Liam Neeson dies, hot shot Navy boy takes over

Navy boy saves the day

New edition of Battleship comes out

The difference is that "Real Steel" isn't just "Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Robots!" in anything more than the general concept. They've put a large amount of work into making the concept somehow work.

I agree.. at first I saw on another forum "live action rock em sock em robots", followed by a link to youtube for the trailer.. and I was actually impressed by what I saw. I really hope that its as good or better than the trailer is.

I have big hopes for the Tiddywinks movie.

I reckon that jumping, pumping action is going to look pretty awesome in 3D.

Liam Neeson appears to be the disapproving father of the hot shot's girl friend, so he can't die until the hot shot does something heroic and earns his respect/approval.

Really? That looks a terrible film, with probably the stupidest premise since 'Killer Klowns From Outer Space'.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".

That was my initial thought. But it was a suprisingly good summer block-buster type movie. Harrison Ford was excellent in it.

I will go see Battleship for the same reason I went to see Cowboys & Aliens. It looks like cool entertainment. C&A succeeded in that regard, and I expect Battleship to do the same.

I think Dan O'Brien (DOB) from cracked.com sums the trailer up well.
