I'm in the US and have just started to want to enter the tournament scene for Fantasy. My friends and I are starting a league and are doing some rules to prepare for it. Its competitive games but mostly among close friends. I was wondering if most tournaments negate special named heroes or lords? Curious because I would like to propose to use them (they are currently banned in our rules, but the rules are not 100% set in stone yet) if tournaments usually allow them. That way we can already prepare and get use to playing against them.

Thanks!

They are part of the game so I allow them.

DukeRustfield - There's nothing wrong with beer and pretzels. I'm pretty sure they are the most important members of the food group.

I'm in the same area as Lincoln, and he's right on. Imho those are the only ones that start to break the game down in 8th edition, and are the only ones that need to be disallowed (if any). Not allowing all special characters because of a few OP ones is just too heavy-handed, with all the cool ones out there that can make for different kinds of lists (the skaven one that can make rat ogres core, for example).

Yeah, Characters in Fantasy are fun whereas in 40k they can be a bit unfair.
