Which one should I get to put my Space Wolves in? I already have a GW Carrycase to put my Wood Elves in but I feel it is cheaply made.

KR multicase.
But if you do insist on Battlefoam vs GW, Battlefoam all the way.
I just noticed you live in Australia, so an extra +1 for KR multicase. Free shipping!

Battlefoam is very good, but pricey
There are alternatives akin to Battlefoam, for lesser prices, at slightly lesser quality and without the custom-cut options
I would avoid the GW cases. They are space-inefficient, and the latches break easily. Even battlefoam-made GW-sized trays fit 25% more minis in a GW case than GW does.
If you can't afford a battlefoam case, look at the manufacturers listed HERE

If you find yourself in Campbelltown, Hall of Heroes stocks a variety of Battlefoam stuff and stacks upon stacks of foam inserts. It's cheaper buying from there than ordering with shipping too.

The small cases have weak latches. The large cases seem not to have the same problem.

That said, they're not great at all. They aren't cheap. They offer no foam options for anything other than infantry.

I'd suggest KR myself.

I'd suggest KR myself.

Agreed. KR do some nice stuff, their enforced card boxes are cheap enough, and when you want to take an army you can always use an Aluminium Case. I'd like Battlefoam myself, but it's a bit pricey for me.

I really don't like GW's cases now companies like Battlefoam & KR exist - bulky, expensive, not that efficient.

I use KR foam that's built to fit GW cases in my GW case, and so far it's working really well for me. I'm glad people are suggesting KR here; it's the best foam for the best price in my opinion.

I'm gonna say KR as well.

I'm ordering another 1 tonight to get the buy 1 get 1 free deal with the backpack.

On topic - I have a GW case its okay but you can trust the catches and I tie a belt around it to be safe.

BF are nice, better quality to GW by far, but expensive. Not a deal breaker but I also don't like the fact that you pretty much have an advert on the bag.

Yep - even though it's not on the OP...

KR as well.

I'm not too keen on the aluminium cases - especially the tall ones, it's hard to get to the bottom of the stack.

I prefer their semi-rigid Kaiser cases which carry a number of the cardboard cases.

I bought Sabol for my Skaven army because they were cheaper than Battlefoam. I'm still debating on Battlefoam for some of my 40k stuff because of all the crazy shapes I need to use. I don't think I'll ever buy another GW case though. I don't mind the foam but I really dislike the fact that the cases will only hold three trays. Lugging around four or five of them on a city bus is "the suk".

Time to plug KR Multicase again - they make a set of trays for the GW case that can hold 200 figures. The stock GW trays are like 1.5" when they only need to be 1". The KR replacement foam is 4 trays of 1" with 50 slots a piece as opposed to GW's 3 trays with 36 slots a piece. I'm pretty positive Battlefoam makes foam for GW cases too.

I would get a full case from KR, but I have the totally awesome Apocalypse Imperial Guard backpack that a GW case fits in very snugly.

I use Sabol trays and bags and they do the job quite nicely.

I have a Sabol Motor Pool case for my mech guard army and I have to say I'm quite happy with it. As for BF being expensive, I can attest to that. When I was shopping around for a case, I initially was looking at BF or Sabol. It turned out that it would cost more than twice as much to buy a case with slightly less room from Bf than from Sabol. I couldn't justify paying that cost when I could get a similar item for less than half the price.

Inch per Inch battle foam will fit more models then any other manufactuerer out there. The only draw back to BF is the cost. In regards to KR, the cardboard box concept is neat, but there foam isn't, in my opinion, the best for transporting models, its on the flimsy side.

Their foam is very soft and won't stand up on its own or anything, but if it's in a decent case your minis will be fine. Their slogan is something akin to "Soft foam to protect your miniatures, hard cases to protect the soft foam" which describes it pretty nicely. I like Sabol a lot too.

I have to disagree here. I looked through various options when deciding who to go with, and I don't think BF hold more models than KR do. BF trays may hold more models, but their trays are larger. Their slots also leave room for models to bounce around in (since they use semi-rigid foam rather than soft 'squishy' foam).

I'm sure the difference in protection is really minimal, but in my opinion, a KR multicase inside a Kaiser (soft foam clinging the models, inside a rigid card case, inside a semi-rigid bag) offers more protection than a BF bag (semi-rigid foam allowing models a little movement, inside a semi-rigid canvas bag).

I have minor disagreements.
Gw Cases ~ GW cases are good for begineers. I've never personally had anything on the case break. I still have my same small cases from over 1 year ago. GW cases are great for infantry based armies, and maybe a few vehicles. They are comically excellent for their competition of Privateer press and Malifaux. If you are going to have an army of 2000 pts, id look elsewhere though.

Battlefoam~ top of the food chain really. Roomy, safe. The analogy is typically if you are going to pay for what you get, why not protect it? I like battlefoam, but having been in the happy for 10 years, already have my primary cases, I have no reason to change now until mine wear out or break. If they do, this is what I would likely purchase, as you can really safely haul 2000-3000+ points safely, easily. Pricey yes, but wouldn't you rather have your car parked in a garage vs street? I would. I park on the street and accept my car is dinged up a bit though.

Army Transport ~ This is what I use. The standard Army Transport is excellent for a 2000-2250 list. I use it for any Grand Tournment i'm heading to. I think they are excellent for Warhammer Fantasy, and OK for 40K. Reason: the vehicles don't quite fit great in any tray they have. I have a 3000 pt skaven army that goes in the Motor Pool. I love that case. I have 3 Army transports, 1 each for Demons, Dwarves, High Elves.

With my new venture into 40k, i'll be honest, i'm considering Battlefoam. It just seems to be set up better, of course they have learned form others. I've never used KR. Heard they are price efficent. The only thing i'd suggest is to look long term. GW Cases are great for starters, but will get unwieldy, and their large case is just useless. Army Transport is a nice step up, its useful, cheaper then Battlefoam, and only falls a little short of what Battlefoam can offer. If you can avoid it, Battlefoam is great. But expect to pay a decent chuck probably 1/3 of what you paid for your army.

GW cases are hard as nails, by the way. I've read stories of them getting backed over by pickup trucks and still being totally fine. They're really just gun cases with GW branding, but they're a quality product. Shame they're so inefficient with space.

Another for Army Transport - Sabol.

I love the motor pool case as it holds 2500 pts of Space Marines no issue. When I have to bring the big bugs IE Tyranids in 2500 points I use a motor pool for the big guys (seriously 3 and 4 inches is large enough if your smart with magnetizing your trygons and everything else fits fine) and a small platoon case for the swarms I need to bring).

I cant justify the price of battlefoam, plus I think I look nerdy enough playing with little men - I dont need a battlefoam case riding on my back.

Just to back up what I said earlier, my KR double backpack turned up yesterday and I'm pretty made up with it.

£58 (in get free case when you buy a bag Sale) is exceptional value for money.

On the Soft/Hard foam front, i'm happy that the soft foam in KR does the job more than adequately. I don't use them as trays in the traditional sense though. When I game I unpack them to a seperate tray or onto the table.

They really aren't. The materials and production method is not comparable. Even cheap gun cases are significantly stronger. Also, the latches on the small cases (black case with red latches) break very easily and they don't have a foam option for vehicles outside of the limited edition cases.

GW is like the goon of Carrying Cases. Battlefoam is the Champagne.

Nope. At my local GW I see KR, Sabol and Battlefoam cases all the time, and only a couple of GW cases. It's the one thing GW don't seem to mind having their competitors product in their store. Though it's also something that parents will likely go out of their way to get somewhere cheaper for their kids, so if they banned non-GW cases then they'd have no one in their stores.
