why you askin? Huh, Huh!?

I was just wondering about options for weapon loadouts. I particularly wondered whether a big mek could be equipped with a power Klaw, shock attack gun , a KFF and some sort of electric shock spear.
I haven't read the rulebookl and I don't have the ork codex so I'm unsure about rules. But I would really like some clarity on my question.

Well if you're playing orks you'll be needing the rulebook and codex. If you're checking because your opponent did that I guess it's OK.

I've never played a game. I just wondered whether all those weapons could could be given to one mek.

Nope, they replace their slugga with any ONE of the following:

Kustom Mega plasta (Plasma gun)
Kombi Shoota (Rokkit or Skorcha)
Twin linked Shoota
Shock attack gun
KFF
Warbike
Mega armor

"Friglatt Tinks e's da 'unce and futor git, but i knows better. i put dat part in when i fixed im up after dat first scrap wid does scrawn pointy ears and does pinkies." Dok chopanblok to Big Mek Dattrukk.

The mek replaces his slugga with either a KFF or Shokk Attack Gun, but replaces his choppa with a burna, power klaw, etc. He can only take one esoteric piece of wargear but can still take another more conventional weapon.

could I replace the choppa with a power claw AND some sort of electric staff?

A decent loadout is KFF and Burna, because it gives the Mek the KFF (always great) and a ranged weapon as well, in the Burna- or a Powerweapon if you don't fire off the Burna.

A build I've tried before is Mega Armour, Cybork, Bosspole, Squig, and a Burna, giving my Mek 2+/5++, a PK, a Burna, and a Twin-linked Shoota, all for cheaper than a similarly equipped Warboss; the only loss is a wound, a point of leadership, and a point of strength, but it lets you absolutely terrorize enemy units in terrain- either Burninate them, or shoota them, before assaulting into terrain with 5 powerweapon attacks at Init 4- the Stikkbombs that Mega Armour comes with HOld on- wait... Okay, this is odd. There's no way for Ork Warbosses and Big Meks to get Assault Grenades. So, yeah. When not assaulting through cover, they can strike with 5 powerweapon attacks at init 4, Str. 5.

And also, Big Meks are the only unit in the codex that can take 2 Powerklaws- getting both Mega Armour, instead of a Slugga, and a Powerklaw instead of a Choppa (though since they keep the Choppa with the Mega armour, you can use that instead of the Powerklaw for some attacks) meaning they can get up to 6 Klaw attacks (with Squig, on the Charge), pretty decent there.

Basically, Big Meks are the most versatile of the HQs, giving options for a lot of combos that are otherwise unavailable, like being able to strike at initiative in Mega Armour, with or without Powerweapons, or a combination of heavy long-range firepower with close-range killing, with a SAG and PK/Burna.

And remember, they always have Mek's Tools, meaning they can repair Immobilized and Weapon Destroyed results on vehicles, in b2b or that they're embarked on.

You making this yourself? About the only 'Electrical Staff' available in the codex is the Grot Prod, which is a poisoned weapon that wounds on 4+, and the only way to legally give a Mek a Rokkit is with a Kombi-weapon, which replaces the Slugga, which means you can't get Mega Armour, or a KFF, or a SAG.

What it is, is a Big Mek comes with two weapons- a Slugga and a Choppa. You can swap the Choppa for a Klaw or a Burna. So in one 'hand', the Mek can have a Choppa, Burna or PK. You can swap the Slugga for a Kombi-weapon, twin-linked shoota, or KMB, or for a SAG, KFF, MA, or Bike. Then there's the non-swap upgrades, which don't replace anything, like the Oiler runts, Cybork, 'eavy Armour, etc.

What is your bizarre predilection towards this "electric staff" idea? There is no such thing for Meks to take, and nothing similar. If you wanted to say it was a choppa, that's about as much as you could get away with.

My prized electric staff Idea has been scrapped. I have provided a photoshop picture to give you an Idea of what I am trying to achieve:

The staff is a KFF, the cybernetic hand is a power klaw, and the two extra mechanical arms will be... I'm not quite sure...

You ask a LOT of questions that could be solved by a cursory browsing of the codex.

So visit your FLGS and have a pagethrough there. Save up the money and buy it. Ask for it for Christmas or your birthday. Mug a redshirt and demand he gives you a rulebook. Mow some lawns, deliver some newspapers, recycle some soda cans.

I know. But I am very loose with my money when it comes to my personal interests. I have asked for the codex and assault on black reach. My cousin will also ask for assault on black reach for their birthday, and although its in october, when it comes I'll swap the space marines with their set.

Anyway, according to Anvildude, I CAN have a KFF, a power claw and mega armor, so whats wrong with the picture?

Incorrect.

"Replace Slugga with one of the following:
- Mega armor
- Shokk attack gun
- Kustom Force Field
- Warbike"

He may only have one of the above, not both the KFF and mega armor. If you had the codex we wouldn't have to answer this question for you.

Thank you SRM (you SOB!). So which do you think is a better option, out of the four that you have listed?

No reason to ever give him mega armor, as he shouldn't be in hand to hand combat. Give him a KFF and hide him in a vehicle or give him a SAG and put him in your backfield as fire support. Give him 'eavy armor (not the same as mega armor, it's just a 4+ armor save as opposed to a 6+) if you want him to be a little more survivable.

yes, thankyou. My birthday is in august so I will have the codex in a little while.

So Eavy armor, KKF, and power klaw?
Is that a good option?

Well, there's no reason for him to have a power klaw, as he's no better at fighting than your average nob. Really, he should be sitting in a vehicle generating a cover save and never getting out unless the vehicle gets destroyed. If you want to, go ahead, it's your model, but there's better places to put a power klaw.

yes, better places.... (up your )
I think your probably right. Now I have to find a model to base the conversion..... maybe big mek with bosspole?
