Or has FC only been re-issues?

All the new wizards for Storm of Magic were plastic right?

Does this mean all new GW products will be plastic wtih no new metals or finecast?

Sorry if this has already been covered.

The Cockatrice was new. And they have that Herald on disc coming out soon.

Is there a concept or method behind what will come out as finecast and what as plastic?

If they assume it will sell more, plastic. The single character plastic blisters that are coming out are actually based off of one big sprue that they break down into multiple blisters. It's clever. They're mostly wizards, which Storm of Magic relies on, so they're expecting them to sell well.

I think all the stuff that is "new" in fine cast so far was going to be metal and they just switched over to the "better" product before release.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General

I am astonished to see such a question by a GW veteran.

Everything that would have been a new metal release is now finecast, so almost all new heroes and elites since June. We only have 6 plastic blisters so far, 4 sorcerers and two undead, all Fantasy. But this certainly will expand.

New Fincasts:

Fantasy:

Tomb Kings: (all late June)

Prince Apophas
Tomb Kings Necrotect
Tomb Kings Liche Priest
Tomb Kings Ushabti with Great Bows

Storm of Magic:

Cockatrice (July)

40k

Dark Eldar

Haemonculus (late June)
Wracks (late June)
Grotesque (late June)
Ur-Ghul (late August)
Medusae (Late August)

The reason I ask is TK and DE both seemed to be in the pipeline when Finecast was announced but Storm of Magic seems to have few FC products (just the evil chick thing?) and a lot of models that I would never expect to see in plastic.

Could it be that FC is just a stopgap and everything from this summer on will be plastic?

No. The fact that plastic needs a lot of sales to be economic still applies. Even if small blisters need a bit less.
Finecast is still necessary for small runs like heroes, elites etc. 40k plastic blisters seem still far away.
So Finecast is here to stay, even with the awkward marketing.

I dunno. Banshee plastic blister? That's not gonna sell 1/100 as much as a plastic Marine character would, even a mono-pose one.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

I think the Cockatrice was the first intentionally Finecast piece.

Other than that, haemonculus, Wracks, Grotesques and Tomb Kings Necrotect and Liche Priest are all first time Finecasts.
