A question from another player

 I won the first turn
(first time in all 4 games) and my first exorcist destroyed his pred
with a penetrating roll of 6 causing it to explode and kill 2
marines. At this point controversy happened. I then declared my 2nd
exorcist would shoot the Crusader behind the now exploded predator.
My opponent said wrecks block LOS. I agreed but pointed out that a
roll of 6 on the pen result table removes the wreckage and thus
gives me a clear LOS.

So could said opponent shoot the crusader or not?

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

Your opponent is right that wrecks block LOS, but only where the wreck actually is, not the place it was at where it got hit. Otherwise, what is the point for a scattered wreck or removing one? If the table said to remove the wreck, that means it ain't there to block LOS anymore, and no longer interferes with targetting.

I'd just like to mention that wrecks no longer scatter and move like in 3rd edition. Your choices are stay put and become a wreck or explode and become an area of difficult terrain.

If you did get a 6 on the pen table, the preditor is gone and its clear shooting to the crusader in the back. Depending on what you replaced the exploded preditor with, the crusader could possibly make an arguement for obscurment, but LOS isn't going to be blocked by anything.

On a 6 result the wreck is removed and replaced with 'wreckage or a crater'.  So you should've had LOS to the crusader.

Anyone know where I can purchase some resin craters?

You know, this night shift stuff is really killin me when it comes to the rules. I get to play so rarely these days, I keep regressing back to 3rd edition on some things. You are correct in 4th ed that something else would be put there, I'll have to come back to this after further study and leave it to those with better Rule-Fu than myself.

Unless they were modelled in an odd manner, your exorcist could likely have shot the crusader before the pred was destroyed.

You can always shoot over vehicles and wrecks if you can actually see over them.

I could see where the crusader could have been physically obscured by other terrain as well as the predator, thus previously limiting LOS. Our comrade may havebeen tag teaming the predator for a certain kill and took the opportunity. Having said that they should have been able to see the top of the crusader over the predator depending on other factors.
