In the newest edition of the Imperial Guard codex a Special Weapon Squad can now take three demolitions charges right? I'm running a guard army with quite a gratuatious amount of anti MEQ/ tank weaponanary, and I'm concidering using two Special Weapons Squads in the odd game for a bit of difference (and a large part of my infantry force are sappers/engineers, so another such unit is always nice). Is it a bit overkill to chose this option then, or would it be smarter to give them a flamer or two to mop up afterwards (I think the US ran similar teams in WWII right)? ^^

I run a team with two flamers and a demo charge. I've had very little luck with them, but the unit as a whole costs about 60 points so it's not too bad for a "might work this time" unit.

I modeled mine as combat engineers:

I tend to run a squad with one demo charge and two flamers. its worked pretty well for those mega combat squads that just get too close for comfort.

Well my friend Dougles tends to run at least one five woman squad of Dominions all armed with flamers, and accompanied with a priest with a bolter-flamer, in an Immolater with twin heavy flamers (mostly because I used the same units to wipe out his guard army in short order), so I'd like something to mop them or there fellow 20 woman squads of battlesisters up from time to time. Pity that you can no longer give the Special Weapons Squads shotguns any more. Guess autoguns'll have to do.=/

Hmn, and how would using a Ballistic fist (ie like the ones in Fallout: New Vegas/Tactics) be for counting as a demoltion charge. Yes rules wise this doesn't make much sence, but ah...Ballisitic fists do make quite a big bang when they go off, especially when loaded with high explosive rounds. Anyhow, its not as if they'll be expected to live out the resulting turn or anything/ ^^

A ballistic fist would be cool, but I can't see it counting as anything other than a power fist or power weapon.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing (I'm using Power Fists in my vet squads, but they're more like gauntlets with power cables coming out of them), just a pitty that I've already made a few of them. Meh, i'm already using rocket rifles as plasma guns, and infustrial arc welders for melta guns so I doubt my opponent's will be getting irked more than they usually will if I use those things too. If its cool enough it can count as anything right? ^^

...And on that note, how's using a communications vehicle with a satelite dish on the back for a Deathstrike? Youknow, its impractical wheel out an intercontinetal missile to fire at a target under a mile away, better to call it in from a comms vehicle somewhere instead? Oh wait, Grimdark.
