Ok, so In my 2000pt army I have:

(Not showing upgrades)

Lv 4 wizard lord

2x master engineer

2x warrior priest

30 x crossbows
detachment - 15x handgunners
detachment - 15x handgunners

30 x crossbows
detachment - 15x handgunners
detachment - 15x handgunners

2x cannon

2x hellblaster volley gun



Would like some advice on how to deploy (let's say its a 4x4ft. board 12" on and I've got 1 small hill or 2 small hill one in each corner)


I dont want any advice on taking away or adding models, but I dont mind changing the unit sizes eg; instead of having 2 lots of 30 crosbows have 3 lots of 20.

Isn't your question best suited for tactica?

I just recently created a 2k pts empire gunline....let me tell you that it can't withstand close combat. As soon as the crossbowmen or handgunners hit 25% casualties they are gonna break. Sticking your warior priests in the crossbow squads and casting unbreakable each turn is undesireable.

Mortars are very useful.

Steam tanks are destructive

Get some infantry

i dont plat empire but i play against them alot.
i know you say you dont want to swap models but im afraid you may have to. your army is going to crumble if a CC unit got into you. ive seen a large unit of halberdiers with detactments BSB and hero do well at holding the line when the enemy get to close.

the gunline is what im building really not for competive more so just to screw around

2 steam tanks - sock the hords away and block fast charges
1 mage lord lvl 2 - mainly for dispel
bsb - leadership buffing
about 10 hand gunners ten a squad
2 mortars
10 engineers with hochline rifles - kill mages lords bsb and anything that buffs in that order

There are virtually no tactics for a list like this. You are missing most of the tools you need to be "tactical" and sneaky.

Deploy in line. Hope you shoot enough to stop them from getting in melee. Either they all die or get into melee and you die. With that list, it really is that simple.

If you want to change the list and add redirectors, stubborn / unbreakable units, then maybe it's worth discussion tactics.
