So I've been thinking about my IG army list while I've been working on a school project and have had no time to actually try it out. So, my question is - Would it be more effective to keep my G. Launchers in my 2 blobs or guardsmen OR would it be more effective to put them in their own separate unit within one of the platoons?

The main thought that sparked this idea is that it would maybe shooting a little bit easier to keep track off. Blobs fire their lasguns + pistols and the SWS fires all the G. Launchers at the same time.

Sorry if this is the wrong section :x

I don't think it makes much difference, though i can see the benefit of the GL not being in combat

Son you can insult me, you can ambush me, you can even take away my weapons. But if you think im going to step one single pinky toe inside blue base with out my SHOTGUN... you must not know who you dealing with.
I said move...
and i said SHOTGUN...
yes I have your shotgun
no.. i mean SHOT...-GUN
what is this... you think im going to give you your shotgun back because you asked???
i said SHOTGUN.... SHOTGUN DAMMIT!!!
oh yeah shotgun... thats my que.

Heh, I didn't even think about them not being in combat if they're their own squad.

I am of the opinion that if it is not a Melta or Flamer, it does not belong in any platoon element. Be it PCS/Blob/Infantry Squads/SWS. In fact I never take GL, the only time I do is when I run Harker with AC/3xGL/Chimera w/HB/ML.

They are just not as effective at BS 3.

I think I'll have to see for myself whether I like them or not.

Another thought came to me, what about adding a demo charge for a little more armour killing power. Yes I realize Meltas would be 1000 times better, but I'm trying to work with what I have.

I agree with Grix, GLs are pretty pants, they just don't pack the punch. I'm using meltaguns in the blob squads, and PCS with flamers following behind.

Piz, it's not a question of 'or'. Your blob should contain the maximum number of special weapons possible, it is completely worth it. Then, you consider whether to buy a SWS. And the answer will usually be no, because you already have got a PCS to carry those extra special weapon!

I guess that makes sense. It was just a thought I had and wanted to see what people here thought of it.

Thanks for taking the time to post your opinions .
