Can anyone please lend a good tip or trick on how to reduce the number of arguments which occur due to scatter dice?!?!?
I am frankly tired of the arguments at my FLGS over a potential 5 degree variance from the arrow on the die and the direction in which the template is being moved. I try to remind folks to roll the scatter die as close to the scattering template as possible but it never fails it's far enough away to argue over. If you move the die closer to where the template is - then the allegation is the die was turned slightly and thus the arrow is moved. If you leave it where it is - the complaint is the angle is wrong.
PLEASE HELP!

If people are going to be nitpicky over it, there's really not a lot you can do.
Trying to roll as close as possible to where it needs to be is the best policy. Beyond that, pulling in an impartial observer can sometimes help.

Roll in a small box lid or other rectangular object, lining up the edge of the lid with the edge of the table. After rolling, you can then move the die anywhere on the table without changing the direction by keeping the edges in alignment.

Use two Tape Measures. Tonight, as I'd seen my opponent 'lean' the direction on a scatter, I laid my Tape Measure exactly on the scatter die's arrow, and the his Tape Measure parallel to the first. It was quite clear after that.
Scattered within an inch of my raider. Back into Reserve!
You can have a 'square' (that GaleF9 measuring template) or your Rule Book to establish 90 degree angles to make sure the TMs are parallel. Check the distance between each one along the length, etc.

If there's an argument over whether the direction the scatter die is facing, roll off for a decision and move on.

I've used a compass for this before.
Set the baseplate to the arrow, line up the bezel to north.
you now have a pretty accurate method of transposing the arrow to the marker.
Of course, this is less reliable if players are magnetising their models.

This above is what I use. Sort of.
We use a sight line, I have a straight line laser level that I picked online, cost me about $9.
Hold it over the scatter Die, and instant sight line for your opponents tape measure.

Easiest way? Have your opponent do your scatters, don't argue about his scatters.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |
