Was thinking if a multiple wound model that can fly is injured should it lose this special rule?
This could add an extra tactic to games, if the model can only move at its base movement rather then the 20' fly movement it would be less threatening (I say less but not completely) Where slowing large flying monsters down could allow you to focus on other threats while the monster slowly makes its way across the board. In return to losing this special rule the points value of flying creatures with multiple wounds could be reduced allowing you to field them more often.

Are large flying monsters considered overpowered or undercosted now? I say exactly the opposite. I don't think you need to nerf them to give them a point decrease. And they can't all fly.

Indeed, the majority of monsters gained quite a big nerf in 8th. I doubt they need more.

There are more important rules considerations than just balance. It is okay to talk about a rule that would negatively impact a weak unit, if you consider a points adjustment, or improvement in abilities elsewhere.

I like the idea, though I wouldn't make it automatic. Perhaps if a flying unit is wounded, there is a 50% chance it is winged and cannot fly for the remainder of the battle. Not sure how it would work with multi-wound units of flying creatures, though.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Its easy to feel this idea is a nerf but its far from it.

Currently in most armies to field a lord on a dragon it has to be 2500 points. Magic and monsters are a large part of the fantasy world and for people who cant spend large parts of the day playing 2500 or 3000 point battles the option of using some of the stunning new models is not an option.

This idea will allow dragons or other large monsters to retain there general destructive capabilities but allow them to be slowed or have stats reduced during game play rather than in the army book before hand. I feel this action would be fine for a significant reduction in points value allowing the of big monsters in smaller games and even the possibility of having 3 or 4 in a larger game.

You're proposing a game-wide nerf because you want to play with a specific model. That's rather greedy. And your nerf would largely affect creatures that aren't even mounts.

If you want to play with big monsters, play with big monsters. Make some house rules and take out out whatever limitation is stopping your or say it's a baby dragon and lower the stats and cost.

But just because you want to play Lord Fartz on an Imperial Flying Monkey doesn't mean anyone else wants to or cares.

Umm, this is a place for proposing rules we'd like to play, to see if anyone thinks they sound interesting. People kind of accept the risk that no-one else will care, because that's the big peril of any new idea.

If you're one of the folk that doesn't care... don't post.

If you don't care about what I don't care about. Don't post.

He's proposing a rule for himself and asking what people think. I told him.

You claimed to be speaking for everyone. You obviously didn't. I'd suggest you chill down a bit.

Back on topic: I'm not too sure I like the idea of Eagles and other flyers with low M values being grounded just like that. Besides, as has been pointed out, there's really not much point to nerfing monsters even more. The cost decrease that would be needed to compensate for this, along with the general cost decrease that almost every monster needs already, would be staggering.

@Duke you critic is appreciated though your unfounded attitude isn't but it prob comes down to your manor if that is so I forgive you for lowering the tone of my post.

This would be a game wide nerf and as others have made clear not a popular one. It was a thought not founded from greed more from desire.

If people feel it is a platform for argument maybe an admin should close it?
