So, I've been playing Warmachine since 2008 and I've been oogling on Warhammer fantasy battles and kinda 40k (I' only want to play Necrons and Sisters there).
Now, I've read several armybooks on fantasy and I was wondering on which is a great team for a beginner, even tho I have a good grip on the rules then I'm just really looking for an army which actually scales with you and has some flavour.
But on to the playing style which I desire.
I want to be the guy who gets in your face, rips you to shreds, but I'm pretty expensive but I can wreck a havoc of damage if I want to.
So I'm talking about a heavy hitter, in your face kind of guy who can actually have alot of variety in the army.

Now here are the armies that I'm considering.

Ogre kingdoms (I heard they're getting a new book in September, I've read their old one and they're just...meh in rules but hey, I want to be a big fat guy who slams into things then I guess this army is great for that but they do die very fast under cannons people have told me).
Warriors of chaos (Great all around , not many minuses and they can beat the living crap out of almost everyone, my worries are that they don't have alot of flavour meaning that they are well, pretty monotone, and that they're kinda OP).
Vampire counts (vampires, 'nuff said).
Chaos demons (Yes, they hit hard, yes they're cool, but I don't want to be a douche).

Okay, Dakkadakka, I know this is my first post and all and yes, I am a bit slowed when it comes to grammar and I will admit that I will post more here, but for now I just bid you if you could introduce me to these teams (if you play them) or just point me at a direction since I love them all, but I can't choose and I would rather want to pick something and stick with it.
Tho, I do have a 2250 point Ogre kingdom army which my family gave me for christmas when they mixed warhammer with warmachine .

Thanks guys.

Start with the Ogres then since you can begin playing immediately. New models coming out in September mean you'll better know your needs and can pick and choose your new kits that way.

+1 for using Ogres.

Since thats what you have, you ought to use them. If you tried to start playing with another army that means spending money. If you find out you don't like the game too much, you will have lost some money.

But...

If money was no concern then I'd say give WoC a try.

Build it and play a few games with it. If you like them, then stick with 'em. Otherwise, trade them for something else either here or somewhere else.

Once you get a feel for the rules it will be easier to make a decision.

A way to try playing is to start out playing skermish level, then add on units.

Then your not committed and wasting all sorts of money before you are actually sold on the game or not.

Mordhiem and Empire in Flames rules are out there and available in the big bad interwebs...

When I play, I buy a box and a hero, then move on from there.

Escelation games are awsome, and you can try building up a small town, and a couple of towers, and a couple of tree lines, some bushes, a hovel or three, and a couple of small houses.
Then add in the road sections, and there you go.
If it so happens to be "Ogers", you can do the same thing. Gather up a band of them, build, paint up and add in the hills, trees, and ponds, and a small styro mound, and a couple of the hovels that they had back in the day.

One, you add in a little bit of stability and have yourself some ready made terraign. The other, you have yourself a bit of fun with the oblong things that the game has in it.

One guy builds a couple of towns, another guy pulls out a couple of grave warrens, and some cave sections...

Pretty soon your group is fighting in the Old World, on the map based terraign with themed armies.

When I did mine, I started out with a chaos warrior army, then spead out to the undead, then went back and started up on the empire guys.

Around a month or two into each one we had enough stuff to play a few games on some awsome terrign on the cheap.

I'd start out with a box of Ogers, and a leader. Then add in a couple of boxes of those grots they have, as well. Add in a couple of Giants, and some of the other stuff, and then you have yourself a pretty good selection.

Pick up a unit or two of each game, and take your time building them up and having fun painting them.

I for one would recommend Dark Eldar, or Empire with a contingent of Ogers as mercs.

One thing I hate about the games as they progresssed on through the editions was the ability of making up your own armies, with whatever you wanted to.

Lost and the Damned style.

Good times, and doesn't cost all that much.

There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
