A lot of threads contain criticism of things on the basis that “all xxx are YYY”, completely ignoring any factors that might deviate from the core concept.
As a way of gently mocking that blinkered way of thinking, I thought it would be amusing to compare some completely unrelated things on the basis of a practically irrelevant common factor. Here are a few to get going with.
Wall-E (film) and Battle Of The Bulge (film) are basically the same because the main vehicle in both of them has tracks.
Pole Dancing is boring because it mainly consists of very fit, lithe young women cavorting athletically to music, wearing tight skimpy clothes. That’s like synchronised swimming.
Gone With The Wind (book) and The Holy Bible (book) are basically the same because the title contains the word The. This also makes them basically the same as the rock band The The. The The is the best of course, because they have two Thes.
American Football is boring because all the guys involved are bundled up in thick, bulky protective equipment. That’s like people walking to the North pole, or Victorian divers.
Hungary and Japan are basically the same because in both countries you put your family name before your given name.
All of history is boring because everyone knows Michael Jackson’s last good album was Bad.
Casablanca (film) and Spanish hardware stores are basically the same because blanca means white and hardware stores contain white paint.
Warhammer 40K is boring because TK Max is a crappy chain store and they both have TK in their name.
See how many more you guys can invent!

The West Wing and the West are both terrible things things because Aaron Sorkin is somehow involved in both.
Into the Wild and Girls Gone Wild are essentially the same thing because they both have the word Wild in their title. And both involve college age people making really good choices.

This is one I actually hear a lot unfortunately:
Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia were the same because their dictators both killed millions of people...
Lets see, what else can I think of?
Cops and orks are the same because they both think the red ones go faster...
Tyranids and zombies are the same because Om nom nom nom nom...
Terminators and Necrons are the same because....wait...nevermind...
Rugby and Football are the same because they both use an oval shaped ball...

The SPARTAN Project and the Adeptus Astartes are the same because they're both military organizations. (And for absolutely no other reasons! ) Warhammer is the same as Monopoly because they both use dice. Tyranids must be American because they'll eat anything that isn't nailed down. The Imperial Guard is a type of aquarium, since they both have lots of tanks. Blood Angels sparkle... (Sorry, couldn't resist )

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.

Thats at odds with what I've actually witnessed (correspondence exchanged between my father and family relations), but whatever, the family is half German, so that could explain it.
