As we are getting ready for Ard Boyz, my little club has had some rule debates. As none of us will be making the call on these, I need some outside help on some rules (page #s would be great too)

Q1) Rhino moves 11", can embarked crew use the fire points and still shoot?

Q2) Shrike and Calgar are both in a list, can Calgar's Combat Tactics over rule Shrike's Chapter Tactics?

Q3) Can a Terminator with Cyclone Missiles fire both the missiles and the storm bolter?

Thanks in advance guys... you rock!

1) No they cannot shoot if you go over 6", now they can hop out and shoot but they count as moving.

2) I don't think so unless Calgar specifically says that his replaces the normal Combat Tactics, in which case yes you can override Shrike.

3) Having only used them with BT I don't know for sure but the BT can use both so I don't know why codex marines couldn't either.

BT uses the Codex Astartes as toilet paper. They’re an Imp Fist successor, recruit from multiple planets, and are known to be the largest Chapter in the galaxy. They’re on a constant Crusade, keeping it real for the Emperor and not bumming around like the other guys. They hate psykers and can’t ally with them. They’re basically an entire chapter of Chaplains. CC lunatics. What every Space Marine should aspire to be, if not trapped in a Matt Ward nightmare.

Q1) clearly covered in the fire point rules, with no room for argument
2) You lose Combat Tactics when you take Shrike. Again, explicitly covered in the rules for Shrike
3) Yes, explicitly states so in the rules for cyclone missile launchers

1: No
2: Calgar does not have Chapter Tactics. So, Shike's Chapter Tactics would replace the combat tactics. You no longer have Combat Tactics and have Fleet. Calgar's God of War does NOT affect the army.
3: Read the CML rules. He can fire the CML and a Storm Bolter.

We follow in the footsteps of Guilliman.
As it is written in the Codex, so shall it be.

But would it still affect an opposing army of Space Marines, assuming they hadn't similarly swapped out Combat Tactics?

No, it would not affect an opposing Marine army. Not even if he was the only character you take.

Really? Thanks for clearing that up - someone at my FLGS always insists that God of War applies to all units because the wording doesn't stipulate 'friendly'. Apologies for the OT segué, and thanks again

This is clarified in the rulebook FAQ

Q: Am I able to gain the benefits of any of my
opponent’s wargear or special rules, such as Teleport
Homers, Chaos Icons, Tyranid Synapse, Necron
Resurrection Orbs etc?

A: In most occasions this is clear, as the rules use the
words ‘friendly’ or ‘own’ to indicate your units, and
‘enemy’ for the opponent’s. On the other hand, some
rules clearly specify that they affect ‘friend and foe’. A
few rules are, however, slightly ambiguous as they
don’t clearly specify this distinction. As a general
principle, we recommend that you cannot use or gain
the benefits from any of the wargear or special rules of
your opponent’s army, unless specifically stated in the
rule itself (‘friend or foe’) or in an official FAQ.

Im guessing his confusion over 1) is because the BRB talks of "Combat Speed" and "Cruising Speed", and that those are 6 and 12 inches respectively.
In reality they actually say "up to" 6 & 12. But they only ever show diagrams of them moving the max, and in your head you don't automatically associate a SPEED over time as ever being different given the same amount of time (time being the movement phase).

For awhile when I started I thought vehicles did their cruising speed movement in the shooting phase.
It made more sense to me at the time that they just keep moving, rather than just drive faster then sit on their asses.

Combat speed is >0 inches (includes pivoting)
Cruising is >6 inches
Flat out is >12 inches

only the calgar rule isn't the way I expected it, already told them. Just seems that if khan can overrule shrike, then calgar should be able to too (RAR, I get it... game sense, I don't).
