Hi all,

today my new CSM army order arrived and the first thing I did was reading the Codex. Now, when I looked for models at the GW homepage I noticed Cypher (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1130401). Since I really like Dark Angels I was happy about a fallen Dark Angel which I could now paint and play. However, I couldn't find him in the CSM Codex. Can someone tell me what the reason is? Is he an old model and was available in 4th edition, but removed in 5th? Or was he an addition and his rules published somewhere else, like with the Eldar Night Spinner?

Thanks and regards
Murenius

He was an old model from a prior chaos codex (I think) and GW is just overstocked on metal models and wants to get rid of all of them.....yaya GW!!!!!

Dammit :( Could someone with an old codex please be so kind and tell me his profile and rules? That way I might consider playing him in friendly games.

I'm not sure which edition of the CSM codex he was in, I think it was either 2nd or 3rd edition but I haven't been able to find them online. I have used him as a Chaos Lord as well as an Aspiring Champion for a squad of fallen angels that I have. If you take him as a Lord you can customize him this way, and give him a daemon weapon. Unfortuantely you can't give him the dual pistols...

Oh geez, 2nd or 3rd. Thanks a lot for looking it up. So I guess I will buy him anyway and do as you suggested and use him as a Lord or Champion.

To my knowledge he was in a white dwarf issue never a codex. There's a bit more info in codex dark angels but no rules

He is in the old Chaos codex. Go find one, we can't post rules or stats here.

He was in the 3rd edition Codex* and could also be taken as a choice for Imperial Guard.
His rules aren't very good IMHO however.

I've included him in my Chaos Space Marine Fandex for what it's worth so you may find the rules there better than his previous ones, which I'll look up now for you...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
He had Master-crafted pistols, a power weapon, the same stats as a current Chaos Lord with the WS & BS swapped around as well as initiative 8!
He's an elites choice for Chaos or Imperial Guard, costs the same as 10 Chaos Space Marines and is an independent character.
If he joins a squad you roll a D6 each turn and on a 1 all members do not do anything for the rest of the turn. This doesn't effect Cypher himself or Fallen Angels which are effectively Chosen CSM's with ATSKNF.
He has a 4++ on 3D6 against any attack that reduces him to 0 wounds, if this save is passed then he is removed from the game but doesn't count towards victory points.
He can fire both pistols and/or fire them twice if he remains stationary.
Deathwing or Ravenwing must charge him if they can.

*I can't imagine it's a problem posting rules as A) he no longer exists and B) I've been deliberately vague.

"It is the great irony of the Legiones Astartes: engineered to kill to achieve a victory of peace that they can then be no part of."

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Thanks a lot for the effort, the original rules indeed seem a bit outdated, so I'll have a look at your fan codex
