Skyrim fans are now able to more easily spend money on Bethesda's upcoming role-playing epic. The Collector's Edition, to release alongside the regular version of the game on November 11, 2011 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, will include a whole bunch of expensive, nerdy stuff.

For $149.99 (US), you get a 12" tall dragon statue, a fancy art book and a DVD about the making of The Elder Scrolls V. Also, if you look at the screen, there's a giant cloth map.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

That's way too expensive for what you get. I've seen special editions with twice the additional content for half that price. We all know that the statuette is going to be very easy to break, anyway.

Would it help to know that the art book is reportedly ~200 pages?

Dragons, man. DRAGONS.

Take the expensive dragon and convert it to an apocalypse Mini. Then you can pretend you're just buying Forge World stuff.

Very cool, but not for £130 or whatever it is here.

As much as I like it, I won't be getting it.

It's not so much the cost for me, its the lack of interesting things.

The art book is nice, but its not something I'd normally be that interested in, and the statue would be more of a hinderence than useful item, not a fan of it at all.

Had there been some unique in game character items, then I'd have considered it, but not enough to convince me to pay the extra cash here, much like the Space Marine one.

Thus I pre-ordered a normal edition on Friday evening after seeing this thread.

And you guys thought you were excited:

lot fans are excited about the next chapter in the Elder Scrolls series but I doubt there are many that can claim a level of enthusiasm that sends them into labor. Unless you happen to be Stevi, who was with her fiancee for the Skyrim presentation yesterday when she began experiencing labor pains. Rather than leave in the middle of the demo (Stevi started contractions after seeing the Frost Dragon), the soon-to-be parents decided to stick it out, just in case it was a false alarm.

Turns out it was the real deal, and once the presentation was over, the couple rushed to the hospital where Stevi gave birth to daughter Atari Lynn. While the couple's plans to get married at this years convention were shelved (they got engaged during QuakeCon 2010), having a baby instead seems like a fair trade-off. I guess their marriage will have to wait another year.

From facebook app.

That's right, this lady went into labor because of Skyrim.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

I have a thing for art books, so I may pick this up, though I'll likely just put the dragon on ebay, as I'm not big on nerdy decorator pieces. With the exception of Penny Arcade pennant anyway.

Well, the statuette looks nice but... get the game, play the game. No need for limited edition

Halo Reach legendary was 150USD / £100. So Skyrim would have been the same price in USA, but MORE expensive in the UK.

And IIRC the MW2 PE was £120 in the UK.

Sir, you are wrong.

Me, too. But I find artbooks included in Collector's Editions aren't generally very good. There's hardly any text from the artists or producers in most cases. I'm kind of confused as to why there is no soundtrack -- that might have sealed it for me. The dragon statue thing is fugly.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I cannot afford it, but I will not say it isn't worth it.

With an artbook and a dragon it could possibly be collectable enough to grow in value if kept in good condition.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Do you really think these toys packaged with games will ever be worth anything? I'm not trying to be mean. The thought, after seeing the quality of these things, had really never crossed my mind. I just got the MK9 collectors's edition with the bookends of Scorpion and Sub-Zero, for example. I got it because it was the same price as the regular game and included an artbook. The bookends are alright sculptwise but they're made out of soft, hollow plastic. I just can't see that being appealing after launch -- hence why the price was the same as the game by itself.
