The only thing I can criticize on is near the end you said you normally take 12 boyz and the nob. Im sure that was just a little mix up, it should be 11 boyz plus the Nob. Other then that, it was a pretty solid read.
I also stick rokkits in my boyz mobs, and have done so for awhile now. I used to do the cheaper BigShoota thing, but like you mentioned, they almost NEVER did anything for me, I honestly got more kills from my dreads big shootas then the ones in my boyz mobs, must be voodoo or something. Rokkist OTOH sure they miss often, but you only need it to hit 1 SM and its paid for itself, and if you smoke a dread/transport then its 10x better for you

I run rokkit boys as well, and while they don't pay for themselves every game, they often more than pay for themselves.

I've had a little better luck with big shootas, especially against guard, as against chimeras they can glance the sides on a 5 or pen on a 6, and with three of them in a unit, that's 9 shots, which is nothing to laugh at.

Like many things I think the rokkits/BigShootas are situational. Id probably take Bigshootas against IG and DE/Eldar, you know those soft easy to kill things. But like everyone, I play against MEQs ALOT, so those rokkits are a great way to thin the numbers before assaults, or smoke a transport, before the assault

True, they would really worry space marines, especially if you could direct multiple units' worth of them at a single squad. Of course, mass of shooting is also really good, even from Orks. I once fired three full 30 strong slugga boys units (With 3X big shootas in each) at the Sanquinor, and got just enough wounds through to kill him in one turn!

You're getting much better at this
Little things:
- Gretchin mobs are not objective-sitters only. Big mobs of gretchin can be used as meat shields in green tide-style armies. They provide 4+ cover to your boyz and will definitely lose combat if charged, meaning whatever charged them is now standing in front of your boyz. An effective protection against being charged. Bigger mobs of gretchin can also bee-line two or more objectives at once.
- Wrecking Ball is 10 points, not 5. And yeah, it should be free.
- Boarding planks are nice in lists with all trukks, especially for MANz. You don't want to stay save, you want to keep moving. Without a plank you move up, disembark, kill a vehicle. Next turn reembark, move on. With a boarding plank, you move up, kill the vehicle. Next turn you keep moving, disembark and then kill something else. Not a mandatory upgrade though.

Wasnt terribly informative? Did you miss the part where he pretty much covered everything that boyz are used for? What else is there? Sure he could of put that boyz are excellent terminator killers and MC hunters, but as far as the basics go on covering them, I think he did just fine. And he didnt do like last time with the Elites and comment on units hes never used, at least it didnt say it this time anyways

How can you have 25 inch assault range? 12+6+1 is 19 right? Were does the extra 6 come from.

He's talking about assault from a vehicle I would assume. Which would be 13" (RPJ vehicle)+3" (base size and dismebark radius)+6"(GhazWAAAGH!)+6" (assault)=28"
So it's still wrong.

The picture in the rulebook shows the back of the base within the 2". Otherwise 8 Termies on 1.5" bases may never dismount from a Crusader.

I say you try out the rokkits. They were at least a threatening presence in grimgobs list whereas a big shoota is just another 3+ I might have to make.

Rokkits are great. Mech Orks issues come down to transports and how to pop em before you show your hand so you dont loose the charge (a problem in the nid codex). So as an answer to this I use as many things that can pop transports in my list as I can. Orks have crappy shooting but en mass a rokkit can give you more options. just as a deffrolla & boarding plank can give you more options then just getting out, krumppin sumpting, and then hanging out waving your ass in the air waiting to get shot/assaulted.

I rarely find rokkits useful unless they're twin linked and happen to be on deffkoptas or buggies, 10pts is a lot for a bs2 weapon. Big shootas are cheap and have a crazy long range and at least statistically one shot will hit.
I could only see running rokkits in 3's in a 30 boy mob. If I'm goin mechanized in trukks I'd take either a big shoota or nothing.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did. |

The difference in chance between a rokkit killing a MEQ and a big shoota killing it is less than 6%, hardly worth twice the price. Rokkits are for shooting vehicles, not beakies.

I play Dok a lot and he doesn't have a lot of vehicles in his GK's:
3 Razorbacks and 2 Psiflemen.
In the early game, rokkits can open transports.
Late game Rokkits still have an effect to gib Marines, where as the Big Shoota seems to flounder.
I especially like Rokkits on Trukks. I have had exceptional luck with these Rokkits in particular.

The chance of a rokkit killing a marine is 27.7%, the chance of a big shoota killing a marine is 22,2%. If you are shooting something with less toughness or a worse save, they even out. You can hardly call that flounder, considering the difference in range and point costs.
I'm not saying you shouldn't shoot rokkits at marines, you just shouldn't pick rokkits solely to shoot marines with them. If you are not planning on shooting vehicles with those rokkits, those points might be more useful elsewhere. After all, five big shootas kill just as many marines as four rokkits.

Jidmah, you can use mathhammer all you want, but sometimes, no matter how well it adds up, it just doesnt work for some people. Ive tried many many times using BigShootas against others, but they never really did anything for me. Now the difference might only be 6% as you said, but I CAN tell you ever since I started taking rokkits in my boyz mobs and everywhere else really, they have ended up making a difference.
But I agree, I fire mine firstly at transports/dreads, and other guys 2nd.
Also, I stick them in my 20blobs and its pretty much like having a TL rokkit in there that occasionally hits twice instead of once. Thats how I look at it anyways

See, my rokkits always seem to be aimed at some galactic battlecruiser... at the other side of the galaxy.
Actually my local meta game is a weird one, out of about 30 opponents there are only a total of 5 MEQ armies (3 loyalist, 2 chaos) and for two of those players it's just one of their armies. So big shootas are way better for me anyway.
Still, if you are equipping your shootaboyz with rokkits and shooting them at marines instead of vehicles, you are doing something wrong.

my rokkits are usually from the upgrades on my trukks so its only +5 points.
For 'ard boyz I am running 2 Rokkits in my shoota squad, but it will be for transports. My goal for 'ard boyz is to use the Burna Wagon for at least 1 mass wound round. I got the tools in place for it finally!!

Wow, your meta is odd . My gaming group has a good spread, its Orks, Nids, Necrons, Tau, CSM, SM, and my brother that plays SM is going to pick up DE soonish. But thats just the regulars at my house, in the actual area, dear god, its SM everywhere.
But I agree, shooting rokkits at a SM unit rather then a transport is a bit of a waste. Id rather be popping rhinos, but if there are no rhinos or if theres nothing in range to shoot at, then blowing up a SM or 2 is better then not blowing up a SM or 2 Automatically Appended Next Post: Blood Lord Soldado wrote:my rokkits are usually from the upgrades on my trukks so its only +5 points.
