Say I have a Razorback and a five man squad of Tactical Marines; can I take the Tactical Marines, have them start the game holding an objective, and let the empty Razorback run rampant?

But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

yes, you don't have to have a squad in the dedicated transport at any time

All right, thanks. Razorbacks as TL Lascannon platforms look more inviting if the squad doesn't need to be in it.

Just make sure that you don't place another squad in the razorback if it's not their dedicated transport, aside from that, its a good strategy to use that some players overlook

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

To be clear on what mythological is saying: you can't deploy another unit in a dedicated transport. But once the game starts some other unit is fee to treat the dedicated transport like a taxi cab.

You can't "take" one empty as in buying it on its own in the army list, without a unit which "owns" it. Each dedicated transport has to be bought for a specific unit, and if you don't buy the unit, you can't buy the transport. I can't have a space marine army, for example, consisting of a Librarian, two squads of tactical marines, and 15 razorbacks, for example.

But as Multiple Unit Choices on page 92 of the rulebook tells us, the unit at its DT operate as totally separate units for all purposes* during the actual game, so you never have to embark the unit in the transport if you don't want to.

*The exception being that no other unit is allowed to start the game embarked in that transport.

Both players should be using the least durable units possible, with the house rule that all players remove an article of clothing every time you lose a unit, and take a drink every time you kill one of your opponent's units.
I have no idea which army will be triumphant, but I can assure you that everyone wins.
