I've a random questions for you Helpfull Dakka Dakka types.

I'm going to two tournaments later this year and when it comes to wysiwyg for vehicle how do you/do you need to model things like extra armour and grot riggers? Or Buzz saws for deff koptas (as far as I'm aware they don't have a blista pack for that) as well as on Battle Wagons if you stick the rear "lid" would that make it count as 'ard case (I play them as open topped since it's still rather open vs any other tank.

Edit: I should really check spelling before posting, sorry.

Well, depends. Some stuff is obvious.
Dozer blades and weapons... just WYSIWYG flies. You need to find a way of getting that weapon onto the model. I am going through that issue at the moment with a defecit of weapons to use because of my gross ineptitude.

As for armor? Sometimes only certain vehicles get the upgrade, in which case it doesnt matter. If you have some vehicles with extra armor, and some with less, it might do to find some way of bolting on more armor. This could be as simple as adding bands/stripes of metal bolted on as sheeting (kinda marine pre-heresy style), or adding Tank-Skirts. For orks, I think its easy, just pieces of plasticard cut and shaped to look like armor sections pulled off other vehicles, or doors, armor plates etc actually belonging to other vehicles.

Well if you need buzz saws you could always look on bits sites for the IG Sentinel chainsaw. It should be a fairly cheep bit as only Catachans really use them and they would not need to ever buy any.

Since it seems that your orks you can potentially get away with labeling some of your stuff on the models. Or for the armor thing if you think it might be an issue make it look like its on hinges so the orks can just lift it up to get out easy.

Thanks, I think any killa kan / dread CC weapon would look cool. I'll be looting a tau/marine/eldar jetbike speeder things as Koptas soon enough and they need to have a cool looking buzz saw. Though I still need to sort out their Rokkits.

@I have some left over tank doors/bits left over from looting which I could slap on to my trucks to make them look like they have extra armour.

Would the circular saw from a plastic Ork nob be ok?

How about this one?

If so I can send you one.

Anything that looks like a giant motorised saw will be fine as a buzzsaw, at worst you could even use several of those ork boyz chainsaws glued together. Or make a circular saw blade from plasticard - just has to look like a jagged round saw blade, it can be quite irregular if the orks made it themselves. Some of the dredd/kan weapons would also make fine buzz saws.

For grot riggers on larger vehicles, I usually add a little open hatch with a goblin head peeking out - nice and obvious, and less likely to get knocked off during play or transport.

For orky armour, do wot the meks do - cut any spare armour bits (or even plain plasticard) to shape, then 'bolt' them into place (with pins or plastic 'rivets').
