Hi there

So, what would be the best rules to represent an army of Unification-era proto-Astartes? Early Space Marines, sent out on the first parts of the great crusade, in Thunder Armour - a mix of Power Armour and Carapace/Flak.

My immediate thoughts are just to stick to a Marine codex - they are probably augmented enough that S and T 4 makes sense over a normal human, and the power armour differences are negligible. However, I imagine them being rather more feral and bloodthirsty than normal Marines, and without as much discipline.

What do you think? Space Wolves? Chaos Marines? Black Templars? Something completely different? Orks?

I could figure them as scout Marines since they don't have as powerful armor but are still stronger and tougher than a normal man.

Maybe battle sisters?

THe human profile + power armor and faith powers would represent the fact they're not quite marines yet but at the same time closer to the Emperor than today's marines.

Personally? I'd go with Sisters of Battle? They weren't anywhere near as augmented as Space Marines, but had rudimentary power armor. Sister's with their SM-like equipment, mostly human statline, and Faith abilitiies to portray their limited genetic modification I think would fit quite well

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.
