No not an MMO.

Something like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout out there?

Not that I am aware of, unless your talking old school like Secret of Mana.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Although I enjoyed Secret of Mana quite a bit way back when, it would be a challenge to get my wife to play that with me, lol.

Not much comes to mind. Titanquest maybe? Fable 2-3?

I was thinking maybe NWN2 or something. Already played Diablo 2, didn't really like dungeon siege.

Behind you

NWN2, with the temple of elemental evil pack.

It gives the new people a chance, yet is immersive for the vets.

For dungeon crawlers, dungeon siege honestly takes the cake, though it's pretty much split with diablo 2.

Dungeon siege 1 just felt... bigger.

Demon Souls. You are always online and interacting with other players in this RPG.

You can play it offline, but then you lose half the game's potential. When online, you sometimes see other player's apparitions, you can see messages they leave behind, invade them, help them, summon help etc. The very actions of the mass affects the worlds and your character.

I didn't say dungeon crawlers, because we don't really like them

She is playing fallout 3 right now, I'll start looking into nwn2, although I'd have to buy 2 copies for us both to play it.

Well there is Guild wars. It is an MMO but its free, and not like free to play free just buy the game and play. Other than that there is Fable 2 and 3, demon souls, dead island will be multiplayer IIRC thats rpg style but with Zombies. Dungeon Siege, Borderlands. Theres a few F2P Mmos liek champions online and spiral knights.

Let me reiterate.

Borderlands isn't an RPG either. To be an RPG, you generally need dialog that matters to the storyline.

Too bad Skyrim isn't going to support multiple players.

To be honest, good luck, proper RPG and co-op have never been mixed well.

My bad. I think the first three titles at the top of the page really nailed it. Can't think of any co-op RPG that isn't one of those.

I think OP is looking for co-op, not random messages and apparitions followed by potential sudden death from another player entering his world just to kill him. Great game, but not co-op friendly at all.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
