So, if I have this correctly, is your battle plan to overwhelm the enemy with the sheer amount of sisters you have, using your Cannonesses and your meltas for anti tank, and having the bolters be your main anti-infantry, and having a large selection of scoring troops?

I'd take 1 cannoness and dump the retinue. Give her the wound negating helmet and a jump pack. She is great at killing HQs and tanks and her 2+ invul keeps her alive quite awhile.
Use the extra points to get some exorcists. You have zero ranged firepower...long fang spam will just hang out and shoot you from across the board while you slog into 12" range...only to be mauled by Grey hunters.
Lance spam can kill a full unit a turn.
Triple Monoliths will own you.

Still, it is the last chance to use the girls before Faith gets nerfed and your trying to do something army-wide after rolling a 1 or 2 for points.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

IMO You should stick with SOB squads of 10, since your special weapon options doesn't increase with squad size. Also I would ditch the seraphim and get a Dominion Squad if you must. Also throw in some heavy bolter retributor squads along with you to provide heavy fire. At Str/T 3 SoBs shouldn't be sent into close combat unless you have multiple melee squads.(Penitent Engines, St. Celestine, Sisters Repentia, Arco-flagellants.) Although half of those aren't TRUE sisters of battle anyway. Leave the power weapons at home. Also ditch the BoSLs on the Veteran Superiors since the Battle Sisters gain the LD9 from the sergeant anyway.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

I think this list will do fairly well.

First off, it has a sheer "WTF???" factor. no one is going to expect a horde army, especially one with a 3+ save.

It has no vehicles. in a mech heavy enviroment this will mean your opponent has wasted alot of points on Anti-tank that is now reduced to popping infantry.

147 bodies is insane. you have the numbers to soak up damage while marching into range.

I think the traitor scenerio will go well. you can park the traitor in one of your blobs and it is very unlikely that he will get killed in time for the end of the game.

all those rending bolter shots will put a serious dampner on infantry armies and you have Melta for anti-tank.

I agree that you should have squads of 10.

I disagree with the Serarphims though they are extremly deadly but you need to add 2 or 3 more to make the more effective.

NEVER use retributers they are a waste of points unless you are tailoring an army against orks or nids.

Penitent Engines, St. Celestine, Sisters Repentia, Arco-flagellants are reli all a waste of points stick with Celestians, Dominions Seraphims and Exorcists.

If you have extra points left over its always nice adding in and Evicerator in a squad.

BOSL is probli the best wargear SoB have even though i dont like it, it is great for tieing units in assualt or passing moral checks and creates a bubble of 10+ (if you are close to the Cannoness)

Id say a list like this would do good

Cannones, Evicerator, Cloak of St Aspira, Book of St Lucious 258

If you wanteed to add another squad of Flying Nuns convert the Cannones + Rentue into another Squads + the Cannoness w/ JP if you drop the Melta bombs you will b able to get a cannoness w/ jp & Eviscerator (you will have to drop a Seraphim from the squad)

The issue with this army if a squad runs after taking 5 casualties you wont b able to regroup Light of the Emperor wont work.

IMHO SMU are the best way to run a SoB army but best of luck

I've done the MSU, Rhinos & Immo Spam SoB before. I wanted to try something different for once. And my list is designed with the 2011 40k 'Ard Boyz scenarios in mind. With one being pretty much straight Kill Points and another being Victory Points, I wanted a list that wouldn't surrender either easily. With only 11 Kill Points, and 6 large Squads to have to kill for any real Victory Points, I think I have met my goal. With the Objective based mission, with 6 large Troops supported by my HQ's I don't think I'll have much of a problem. Night Fighting turn 1 on 2 of the 3 scenarios also works to my advantage as I have no long range shooting and will use that time to move/run into position. I heart Exorcists too, but not this time.

jillyjally wrote:So, if I have this correctly, is your battle plan to overwhelm the enemy with the sheer amount of sisters you have, using your Cannonesses and your meltas for anti tank, and having the bolters be your main anti-infantry, and having a large selection of scoring troops?

Pretty much this.

dkellyj wrote:I'd take 1 cannoness and dump the retinue. Give her the wound negating helmet and a jump pack. She is great at killing HQs and tanks and her 2+ invul keeps her alive quite awhile.
Use the extra points to get some exorcists.

Read above for my reasons for not doing exactly that. I've done it before, and it bleeds Kill Points and Victory Points, something SoB traditionally don't do well at because of said Mech spam.

dkellyj wrote:You have zero ranged firepower...long fang spam will just hang out and shoot you from across the board while you slog into 12" range...only to be mauled by Grey hunters.
Lance spam can kill a full unit a turn.
Triple Monoliths will own you.

Please elaborate your points with explanation as opposed to just saying, "You will lose against X." Yes I realize I have no long range shooting. Outside of Exorcists or Retributors, SoB have no long range shooting. And I have already said why I'm not going that route (giving up easy KP/VP in 2 of the 3 missions). How exactly will Long Fang spam really kill me? Either they are shooting Krak and killing a few Sisters a turn, assuming no cover, or they are using Frag and with proper spacing they will only get so many hits which I'll get my 3+ save against. Grey Hunters may or may not be an issue depending on how much shooting I get in before either of us charges if at all. Again how will Lance Spam kill a full unit of 20, TWENTY, SoB a turn? Again assuming no cover, I don't expect either of the Lance Spams to be killing as much as you think they are. Once more, how will triple Monoliths own me? As is pretty standard, I plan to ignore them and go after the objectives or Phase Out when dealing with Necrons. Please elaborate if you have something more to say about these points.

dkellyj wrote:Still, it is the last chance to use the girls before Faith gets nerfed and your trying to do something army-wide after rolling a 1 or 2 for points.

Agreed, this is my SoB's "last hurrah" so to speak. After 'Ard Boyz regardless of how I end up doing, I have one more tournament with C:WH and that is going to be devoted to my now obsolete WH Inquisition.

AchillesFTW wrote:IMO You should stick with SOB squads of 10, since your special weapon options doesn't increase with squad size. Also I would ditch the seraphim and get a Dominion Squad if you must. Does anyone read the 'Ard Boyz scenarios and keep them in mind when critiquing a list designed for such? That is not so much directed at you Achilles, but in general. Anyway, I feel that 20 woman SoB Squads play the KP/VP denial quite well. I was hesitant about the Seraphim Squad for awhile but here's my reasoning behind them: Dominions HAVE to take a transport and thus are automatically 2 KP and in a list with no other vehicles, they would receive pretty much all AT firing until they died. Yay for ineffectiveness. The Seraphim can in the Traitor scenario DS where I want them, IE where the enemy traitor is, and hopefully kill him. If some plan to leave him hidden in terrain by himself, then the Seraphim should be able to take him down. If he's with the a squad, the plan will be to either deploy the Seraphim normally and move up to engage the Traitor and only him as he is an IC and will be singled out in combat or DS again near the squad he is attached in a location that I will be able to survive for the turn and shoot/assault him on my next turn. And if he's hiding in a transport, that's what 2 Twin Inferno Pistols and Melta Bombs are for . Finally, this will be the last time I am able to take Seraphim before they are nerfed for good with only I3 and no automatic Hit and Run. I don't need to go into why I take a BoSL on the squads that need it most, is the 20 woman SoB squads, but I'll leave it at this: Sweeping Advance. The Power Weapons were a late addition as well, but it gives the SoB Squads a slight bite in CC and can't be singled out.

Tekeino wrote:I cannot explain how much i love this list. It looks like a strong list, WITHOUT TRANSPORTS please post up battle reports, i just love the idea. Great work!

I'll see what I can do about that. Unfortunately, only one squad is fully painted with most of the rest being bare pewter. I realy wanted them done for 'Ard Boyz ( the one tourney that doesn't have paint score!) but it just didn't work out.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, both of you. I am hopeful that is will be something unexpected, and much like a Rouge Deck at a MTG Tourney, hope it will just be under-prepared for at this event. I will see about posting pics sometime this week before Saturday, but as I said above most is not painted.

Thank you for the advice. As I said before, I've dont the whole MSU SoB Rhino/Immo spam with the three mandatory Exorcists. Again, given that one of the scenarios is KP and another VP, I stayed away from the tradition SoB builds at higher points levels. I would have liked to take Eviscerators on the VSS's, but they can't take both a Combi Weapon and the Evis, and I'd rather have the Combi.

Thanks all so far for the comments and keep them coming.

Good luck id suggest maybe 2 more squads of Seraphims if you are going footloggin. Also i am probli wrong but dont retnues count toward the Hq Kp so your list would only be 9kp

Also just another suggestion add Litanies of Faith for free instant faith pluss you can make a 20 woman size squad all have 3 up invo. Just a suggestion

Thanks again. I wouldn't mind more Seraphim squads if it weren't for a few things. One, they are additional KP and generally easy to pick up VP. Two, I don't have the points for them without serious retooling. The HQ IC, the Canoness in this case, is worth 1 KP and her Retinue another KP. For the same reason that if her retinue were to be killed off, she would revert back to her IC status. I thought about Litanies of Faith, but rejected them for a few reasons. One, only the Canoness or Palatine can take them, so I would either be limited to using them on the Retinue squad and herself, or ditch retinues entirely and attached them to a SoB squad. Neither of those options were terribly attractive and also the Litanies of Faith are expensive point-wise.

you could drop the Celestian Squad for another unit of Seraphims +Vss for the Simulacrum Imperiais. Which would give you the +1 Ldr aswell to ensure ur SoB dont fall back, they also can do some last turn objective contesting too. Thats all being if you want to modify your list at all, but IMHO 1 squad of Seraphim w/ only 5 models isnt enough they should b 7-8 minimal. That way you can roll 3 dice for what ever faith you want (better odds)

Also just a little note for your Seraphims that i always use. If you buy 3 Melta bombs and do a lay out like this:
Seraphims x 7
Vss Book, Evicserator (Maybe if you have a few extrsa points Blazer of Holy Fire)
1 Hand Flamer (or Inferno Pistol), Melta Bomb
1 Hand Flamer
2 Seraphims BP
2 Seraphims BP Melta Bombs

You can distribute wounds better allowing for better wound allocation. But again this is just a suggestion

Note: If you drop the Retnue you are not adding extra KP if you add Seraphims + then you can add LoF and jump the Cannoness from squads
