Well, from what it looks like, even if my IG army was allowed with all of its non-40K figures, even with lots of fluff, I appear to be about 300 pts. shy of being able to enter the tourney. Oh well. I was looking forward to seeing what my people could do. The others at my game shop would allow my army, but since its an official GW thing going on, with others coming to town to partake, the owner doesnt want to really take the chance. Alas, Oh well.

Yeah, they really can't go with non-GW stuff in that event, and playing that far under points doesn't really work.
On the other hand, once you get the other 300tps together, there's no reason that you can't play some 2500pt games against other people from your store. This would get you the experience, and give them some practice. Win/win!

You can't buy a bunch of semi worthless upgrades like extra armor on all your tanks, carapace armor on all your vets, etc? You can't borrow any IG from a buddy?

We were using Army Builder to try to do that. Even with the armors, weapon upgrades, standards, etc. etc., I was still falling that amount shy.
I do plan on getting more troops and vehicles to boost my points so I can battle at the shop.
I can't borrow from anyone because it appears that I am the only IG player with anything at the shop. I do live in a smaaaaallll town afterall.
