Hi guys, new to the forum but just need something clearing up...

I don't have a tyranid codex and so don't know the name of the rule but its something along the lines of '...any non-vehicle unit must make a dangerous terrain test when assaulting...' and something to do with spore clouds.

Can a few of you just confirm for my opponent:

A dreadnought assaulting a trygon does not have to take this test as a dreadnought IS STILL a vehicle regardless of the fact it 'moves like infantry' (which was the basis of my opponents argument).

I believe you are correct, a dreadnought is a walker, a type of VEHICLE that just moves LIKE infantry.... also, you may want to slap your friend upside the head.... i used to play nids and you cant take spore clouds on trygons as far as i can remember =p

You can't, but if his trygon was near to a Venomthrope then he WOULD have to take the test.

This was the case... but the ruling clearly states 'non-vehicle models..'

so surely dreadnoughts are exempt?

You can consolidate from combat with a walker afaik, but they can't be targetted with Paroxysm afaik...

Personally i'd say no.

Well if the ruling says 'non-vehicle models making an assault' and seeing as there are no other type of vehicle that can launch assault in 40k, I'd say it's referring to dreadnoughts. Meaning they don't have to make the test.
Else the rule would say 'ANY unit making an assault must make the test'
And it makes sense fluff-wise too... why would a spore cloud affect a machine?

They can't be targeted by paroxism because it says "Any non-vehicle unit".

Now back to the real topic. We just had this question at my LGS and the people there said the Drednought would NOT have to take a Dangerous terrain test.

The dreadnought is a vehicle model, and only Venomthropes have that dangerous terrain rule - and it doesnt affect vehicles.
