So if you shoot a squad of stealth suits which have stealth field generator, you need to make 2d6*3 as if firing at night. Does this mean that this doesn't have any effect if enemy uses searchlight on them?
Also if you assault the squad, it counts them as being in cover. Does this mean that enemies that charge them strike at I 1 and also can this be countered with grenades?

IF you manage to spot them with the unit using the searchlight, then following units that shoot at them dont need to test.
NO, this has no effect in 5th ed. Check your rulebook, and note that you have to take a diff / dang terrain test in order to strike at I1

The stealth field generator says the unit must roll 2d6x3 as if firing at night. It never says equipment that only works at night will work on it. It isn't actually night fighting.

Unfortunately, this is correct. They must roll a difficult terrain test for you to gain the benefit of being in cover.

...using the night fighting rules. So when firing at the squad, the NF rules are in effect. Meaning the searchlight works.

While rereading the searchlight rule it states this "Searchlights are used where the night fight rule is in effect." Later it also states "For the rest of the Shooting phase, any other unit that fires at the illuminated unit does not use the night fight special rules." The stealth field generator never gives the unit the night fight special rule. It just gives an example of how you would work out the firing.

The rules for Stealth Field Generator states that the unit must roll for spotting distance "as if firing at night". Nowhere in the description/rules for the item does it state that the bearer is under the effects of the Night Fight special rule. Searchlights will not negate rolling to check spotting distance to stealth teams (not even while night fight is in effect, imo).
edit: for grammar and clarity.

No, and I had so many people try and pull this rubbish back when I played Tau. Stealth Suits offer a bonus that follows the same die rolls for a conclusion as night fighting, but they do not actually place the user under night fighting conditions.
