In the late 1990s, I painted two whole 40K armies, but only ever played like twice. I have long since sold my figs, but I’m considering getting back into the swing of things. I have some questions if someone wouldn’t mind offering some feedback:

1)Would the use of HeroQuest figs be tournament legal (or even okay in a friendly game)? I would be more than willing to attach them to 40K bases. Technically, they were produced by GW, correct?
2)If the answer to the first question is “yes”, in what way (if any) could I incorporate the non-orc HeroQuest figs into any 40K armies?
3)I remember using two different kinds of spray paint for base coats. One was just generic spray paint, which caused the figs to have a shiny and generic look. The other was a special GW type, which was the standard, I believe. What kind of spray paint is this? Is it made by anyone other than GW for cheaper?
4)Which is more standard: green grass bases or tan sand bases?

Thanks!

1) I have no idea, that is not were my intrests are.
2) No comment
3) I am not sure. I have used GW base spray paint cans for a while now and I think they are good for the price.
4) Probably a combination of both. If you had to just go with one I would go with the sand.
5) Welcome to dakka dakka. Hope you enjoy the site.

I think what you want is a primer. GW makes probably the best on the market, but most expensive. Army painter isn't bad, and Board to Pieces is good, cheap, but a bit heavy.

People use sand or grass interchangably, no set standard. I use a drybrushed sand with static grass and tufts of foliage on my orcs, for an arid wasteland look.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
