When did they change the FAQ on this?

Jeezus I just conceeded a game to a guy that insisted my termagaunts would not benefit from furious charge (via tervigon counter-attack), and told him to go read the Space Wolves FAQ for a black and white statement that read "The Counter-attack special rule states ‘all models in the unit get the +1 assault bonus to their attacks, exactly as if they too had assaulted that turn.’ Therefore Ragnar’s unit does indeed benefit from Furious Charge." (Mind you there was a lot of other stuff bugging me in the game, like fishy assault measurements and such that lead to me resigning from the game.)

So I get home and pull up both the W40K FAQ and the Space Wolves FAQ, and both say the exact opposite now! WTF!?

Thanks for making me look like a stupid feth, GW.

W40K FAQ:
"Q: Does a unit that successfully passes its counter-attack Leadership test count as charging for all purposes? (p74)
A: No. They just gain the +1 assault bonus to their Attacks."

Space Wolves FAQ:
"A. The Counter-attack special rule only confers the +1 assault bonus and no other advantages normally associated with assaulting."

When the feth did they add the W40K note, and when the feth did they change the SW FAQ? GW can suck a fething dick.

It's been like a year, well before last October I'm 100% sure. Maybe before last Ardboyz

The FAQ answer stating they stacked lasted all of a month before being changed to the current non-stacking version. This was, at least in part, because of all the guard players rubbing their hands together in glee at the thought of Straken and a 50 man power blob as a charge receiver.

Yup, and it helped Alex Fennell get a GT win, and the first "Golden Ticket" invite to the Throne of Skulls GT, at the Conflict GT. I believe the initial ruling was ~December 09 or Jan 10, then they reversed it in Feb 2010. IIRC they initially ruled that the two would combine, then they saw the consequences.

I think it was the second-fastest GW FAQ reversal of a broken ruling, after the Moonstone ruling from the Wood Elf FAQ a few years back, which was so broken they literally fixed it within a week.

I guess I should have assumed they didn't combine anyway. Otherwise that would have been a FAQ ruling that didn't kick tyranids in the fething nuts.

feth it, I'm switching to Dark Eldar.

There's this thing called Playtesting, that GW has been studiously ignoring for a decade now..
