I was looking for models on ebay to kitbash or counts as and i found a 1/35 WW2 hetzer for 10$. It was born to be a vindicator. I wondered about the size but it is really close , the tracks are exactly the same size.
I still need to paint most of the details so this is a WIP and i have to buy or make a dozer blade or a siege shield. What do you think?

It's an alright idea but it really doesn't look like a Space Marine vehicle. It doesn't really match their aesthetic. The sloped edges don't fit with the square boxiness of Marine vehicles.

I second this. I really like the conversion, but it does not fit the 40k style.

Keep it up though. It's just a hobby. Whatever floats your boat is allright with me.

Really? Keep in mind i'm still putting a dozer blade on the front of it. Its shape isnt that far off from the rhino shape.
Well i don't know about you two but a 10$ vindicator fits nicely in my space marine army, considering i will only field this once or twice. Thanks for your opinions though.

Don't take it so personal.
You asked for opinions. They are personal and subjective.

It just doesn't look like a model from the 40k range and therefore does not fit in my opinion. Further you can't play with it un a GW store.

But you did a solid job on the conversion which I do appreciate very much.

I agree with the others in that it doesn't really fit, however if you are on a budget, then it certainly looks close enough. It fits the counts as criteria as "it looks close to the original and nothing else". But I would plan on eventually getting a real one, or at least a closer proxy.

I like it. It looks close enough to the 40k aesthetic to me. I'm not surprised that some people think otherwise. I know you can't play with it in a GW store, but you can totally use it in ours!

Very good Deathshead,

I like conversions like this, and if it doesn't go with the non sloping sided aesthetic then neither does a GW drop pod

TBH the Hetzer fits only a hetzer aesthetic. Didn't hear the German Army complaining about it not matching their Stugs.
Also WYSIWYG so add bonuses for the sloping side armour

I figured out why I don't like this model (don't get me wrong, I want to get a hetzer too, I already bought one in 1/48 and regretted it immediately, but, it was too late....)

It needs more pronounced exhausts, the similar kind of meaningless armorplates that the rhino features, (refer to front of rhino), and maybe stamp its rear end with a mechanicus cog and a small shrine...

I don't think you need a dozer blade though. If you feel inclined though, for some reason, a v-shape dozerblade comes to mind as appropriate.

Cheers, and keep us updated!

I like it, the slopped sides have a rather "steel legion" feel to it. Are you going to fill out the colors a little more? it may help to harsh-en the edges, but it definitely fits the bill of vidicator, aka: tank with really big gun on the front. Although.. it would make an awesome template for an amphibious version of a rhino too...

Looks really good to me, though I'd probably throw a couple of aquila decals on the sides to tie it in to 40k a bit more.
Quality job though!
