Tail-spinning Tomb Blade Pilot

Listening to some old horror punk (punk music heavily influenced by classic horror movies, hence the name) I started thinking about how I could apply those themes and imagery to a 40k army. Before long, I had the idea of creating a Halloween sort of Chaos army, sticking to blacks and oranges, and naming it The Samhain Legion or The Fall Children, writing up some fluff about them, etc. I just started a guard army, however, so I won't be getting to this army anytime soon.
I was wondering if I am just a weirdo in this, or if anyone else has been inspired to create some sort of army from music. If so, a description of it would be cool to hear.

Children of the Grave. I know in the lyrics Black Sabbath was emphasizing a peaceful revolution to get rid of war but listening to the song before I read the lyrics (I can hardly tell what Ozzy sings, much less what he says) made me picture a rogue IG regiment whose (fridge logic time) commissar ordered the entire regiment executed when they failed to do something immensely stupid like walk up to a Tyranid Prime to let it eat them in order to give the artillery more time to triangulate its position. In return the leading sergeant shot the commissar and the whole regiment turned against the rest of the IG they were fighting with but of course one regiment could be stepped on by a Titan and be erased from history so they went into hiding and could only pull nightstrikes and stealth surprise attacks... Thus the army is painted stealthily with black and dark red but with a little bit of gold detailing. The new regiment was born in what should have been their grave and thus with revolution in their minds the children start to march as the Children of the Grave.
Like I said, fridge logic. But hey, you're not alone.

But seriously, my WiP army is Halloween themed. orange/black.
A bit of blue and red thrown in.
I have 10 marines I am converting that have skeleton heads from the WHFB range, the power armor looks awesome when the helmet is replaced with a skull.

How about Mozard's 'Ard Boyz, with stone violins!! Okay, seriously now, I think theming all the horns and spiky bits which we already have to reflect a specific musical mood would be pretty cool! Why not squeeze more out of GW's spare bitz?

Like I said, I'm going chaos...and yeah I had the idea of throwing in a couple of skelator heads of some sort. If I ever do build this army however, trust me, it'll look a lot different, I plan on making it a very chaotic halloween theme. I also plan on attempting to paint the misfits logo on some shoulder pads, and maybe writing some lyrics on banners, like "deify the wretched ones" etc Automatically Appended Next Post: Yipyioh wrote:Children of the Grave. That's a really cool idea, do you have any pictures up?

Not yet but someone was intrigued in another post, I'm planning on adding a picture or two to a gallery or just posting them.

Sorry for the relatively low quality. This is all I got but hey, I think it looks cool.
Although they were inspired by Children of the Grave, I dubbed them the 101st Sol Shadowrunners. I found it fitting.
I have a few more pics in my gallery but it's the same sort of thing, just different angles.

Yeah, that is a cool scheme. How come you don't paint the skin though?

I haven't had time between school, music, and working with my father to paint much, and this being my first prototype I haven't bought any paint aside from red, black, and gold. I have been planning on going to my local game shop to get some but haven't gotten around to it. I'm going to do variations on skin tone once I get it though, vary the gamut from pale Russian skin to tan Native American skin. I want to make several of my sergeants be very different looking, like having a Carl Weathers type sergeant (from the 80's Predator movie) with a big cigar and some very tan looking guardsmen with warpaint and such on their faces. More of a Vietnam-era army than WW2 like most IG armies are. I mean, how many planets really have lush jungles or barren deserts that the camo everyone paints their IG in would blend in with? Heck, there were two or three planets in Star Trek movies that had a purple tint to everything!

Ah alright, I was thinking it was a finished army for some reason. I also have a WIP guard army. That does sound really cool i like the vietnam era take on it. I also like the carl weathers type sergeant idea, immediately made me think of the sergeant from Aliens and of course sergeant johnson from the halo games.
