Okay so this takes me to 2390.Pretty basic mech guard with some ogryns thrown in for objective contesting/tar-pitting. I'm thinking add a melta vet squad w/ shotguns inside one of the vendettas, and I'm also thinking about scrapping a tank and filling up my troop slots but I'm not sure yet because only 1 of the games is objectives based anyway. Any ideas about how to improve this list or how to use the last 110 points would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if the points work out, or if you have the models, but I'd drop the ogryns+LC for two vet squads (preferably melta). Give one of them a chimera if you can and if not just put them in dettas for an early game strike option. Provided you have first your detta van go 24 in the scout move, further 12-24 (can't remember their special disembark rule) during the normal move, disembark 2 and have a nice 6 melta range. That totals up to a nice 44-56 threat range. Eat Land Raiders all day long.

Another thought is you could get another melta-vet sqaud (chimera or detta or choice) and give the melta squads( and only them) demolitions. The extra shot with the charge can come in handy and the melta bombs are if for some reason your guns fail. Both are ideas our local mech-guard player is trying out.

I have to agree with Arinnoor's advice. That is 335pts in one unit, and you don't even have a weapon on the Lord.

Besides, if you want to do it proper, you need to give the Commissar a power weapon or a power fist to pound through power armor (the bane of Ogryns). The problem is the Lord is incredibly crunchy and is a IC. He also can have this nasty side effect of killing your bone'Ead on a bad morale roll. I have found it is Yarrick, gamble on a Lord, or just go naked with Ogryns. As an option you can run them out of a Chimera to allow you to expand the size of the unit.

A second melta CCS and a melta vet squad in Chimeras is 300pts, this is probably the safer bet.

If one of your plasma Vets are sitting back guarding a home objective, I honestly suggest giving them a AC or a Lascannon. You can do this with all of your plasma if you have the points as it is a good synergy with the plasma rapid fire.

I do not like sponsons on LRBTs due to you can only fire one other weapon besides the turret if your moving and to fire both you have to stand still. I can understand the versitility, but if your not using it or barily using it, those points could be spent elsewhere... like putting troops in the vendettas.

Good luck!
