So after looking through the spaec marine HQ's I got very dissapointed, they all seem to suck IMO. I've heard that I should just take the librarian with terminator armor and a SS but still, I would rather not use him at all. The only reason I field an HQ at all is because I have to so I guess a 150 point librarian that is hard to kill is fine with me so they don't get the victory points. Are there any HQ's that you use that get into the battle and dish out a good amount of damage? My friend's eldar HQ's absolutely rape me and I'm really jealous.

Try looking at a few of the named characters. Specifically, Lysander, Vulkan, Kan, and Shrike.

Well, my standard HQ is a librarian with terminator armor, storm shield, and nullzone, and whatnot, leading a unit of Assault Termies. A psychic hood is an absolutely must-have today since there are many psykers out there in the 40k universe.
Named characters unlock specific chapters but for me they have a bad taste and therefore I stay away from them.

you say nullzone and what not, what do you mean? i dont use nullzone because i don't face anyone with invuln saves. I used the vortex of doom and the template attack.

Avenger is my first choice. By the way, if you battle Eldar, their HQs will generally have an inv. save.

I run a librarian without any extra gear. With Null zone and the Avenger. I think they are the best two of his psychic powers.

I run him with some tactical terminators, so he gets the protection, but terminator armour is always a good option for him.

These are your choices
1. Librarian. i use the libi in and out of termi armor. Null zone works on so many foes, Demons are DONE if you have null zone since it works on all of their saves. Terminators have Invulns and i believe it works against DE shadow field or what ever that gives vehicles an invuln. save. Librarians are the best overall choice expecially because of the psychic hood and how much psychic powers are beginning to rule the game. Grey knights for example.
2. Named characters like Vukan, shrike or Pedro depending on your list
3. Bike Captain with storm shield and relic blade. Lets you take bike squads as troops. I think this guy is a better deal than Khan. I am currently running a bike fusion list. Half of my list is Fast attack and bikes. the rest is armor and dreads. This list is fast and fun to play.

Don't forget Master of the Forge for that nasty 6 x Ironclad list. BTW has any one tried it, love the thought of 6 dreads wreaking havoc!

I run 4-6 Dreads. MotF isn't too special but he can really add some power to a plasma or even flamer toting tactical squad.

Command squad

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out.

Right behind you...

Vulkan is pretty much an all-around guy. I would recommend him. Shrike on the other hand is pretty ing fast, so if you want a really mobile commander who can soar over the enemy, then Shrike is your Marine.

There is only the Emperor, and he is our shield and protector.

I used to field a Chapter Master..... and boy, did he put a world of hurt on.... never underestimate the power of Orbital Bombardment. They hurt... ALOT when you land them where you want. In some lucky games, I've even managed to take out tanks like Land Raiders filled with Termies in the first turn. Not to mention that the Chapter Master can take all kind of fancy toys.

Why buy expensive 40k at retail price?

See the link above and get decent 40k armies for a decent price.

I hope this is a troll post, because otherwise you come off as a moron not knowing that the Command Squad is not an HQ choice.
