I have been playing 40k for about 2 years now and trying to expand into Warmachine and Horders, I play Cryx for my Warmachine army and really like the Skorne models so I got myself a battle box. Now from what I have seen on the Forums is that is that Skorne castes are mostly sub-par... but that is just the impression I getting from what people have posted, so my real question is what is the most common Skorne build that I would see in a 35 point list?
I don’t consider myself a "power player", I just want to try to build a good competitive list with buying any more models that I will never use.

I would stop reading those forums...skorne casters are defiantly not sub-par.

Common is really the wrong wording here as there are no common lists...just beasts, units and solos.
That being said most Skorne lists will invovle a Titan Gladiator for the animus. After that Molik Karn lists are fairly common - the only problem being that heare a one trick pony - a very successful pony.
It all will depend on what caster you bring.
If you plan on staying with pMorgoul (the battle box caster) the next thing you'll want to get is Adeptis Marketh and then some infantry - Nihilators are my personal favorite. After that its really up to you what direction you go.

Lol sorry, it just seems like ever caster review I looked at on the PP forum talked about how you can find much better casters in other armies but this is how you make him work.
"Common is really the wrong wording here as there are no common lists...just beasts, units and solos."
Ok, so I guess a better question would be what would be the most commonly used caster in a competitive 35 point list?

Each forum on the PP board has it's own culture. Some know the power of the faction and others swear they are the worst ever.

Well do you plan on sticking with that caster or not? Every caster can be made competitive you just have to learn how to use them.

Not sure, I guess I will for now just because I have him but I need to lean a little more before I decided what caster I will stick with.

Considering the two finalists in Hardcore this year were Xerxis and Big McLargehuge, I think it's safe to say Skorne casters aren't sub par.

Well Watts in winning with whichever skorne caster he selects for the event, in Templecon championships he was running pMorghoul, Hexeris, Mordikaar and eMakeda.
You should look at the other models skorne has and decide if you want to run more beasts or infantry. Skorne (and in WM/ Hordes in general) the casters each work best with certain units and beasts depending on their abilities and spells. One unit you will definitely want in practically every list is minimum Paingiver beasthandlers. They will help with the fury management. I would advice against including Marketh as to get most out of him you need some single wound infantry and most pMorgh list do not run any other than the mentioned paingivers.
pMorgh is best at running several beasts and will enjoy the company of Cyclops brute (for shield guard and no knockdowns) and Shaman (for casting other beast animus for them). The backbone of many skorne lists is the holy trinity titan gladiator, titan bronzeback and Molik Karn. In the end personal preferences and play style will matter more than net lists so get some games under belt and decide for your self what works for you.
