Okay, I am the tortoise of the WWW. Big P has just introduced me to the crazy ass world of COSPLAY. I am hooked, it has made me laugh for about 40mins none stop (and has equally made me get a bit hot under the collar with some of the Female pics!).
Please guys can you post up some of the most extreme examples of comedy and humorous COSPLAY....
The Theme is "You definitely wouldn't want to meet this person in a Dark alley"..

Why do those things happen?
My friends go to cons and their best example of a 'you don't want to go to a con' is the story they have of a Hamtaro cosplay. All of the teen girls thought it was cute and were hugging it, then when another wave approached the head of the costume was removed and this nasty 40-50 something year old sweaty guy was revealed to be in the costume.

Went to a couple of Cons dressed as the character Kakashi from the Naruto series...had some pictures somewhere don't know where, anyway, that was way back when that show first came to the states and there were animes that were actually good.
The only thing I want to and will one day cosplay as now is one of the Tanith first (or any reasonable 40k cosplay honestly) if I ever get the chance (time or money)...

This is part of the overall Geek Culture, this kind of thing seriously tarnishes the Wargamers Image, as it makes 99% of the public go, "WHY? WHY would you do that!". I always feel a bit weird about people dressing up as 40K characters, its supposed to be a miniature fantasy world. I suppose they don't do any harm or anything, and its freedom of expression, but at best it's odd and at worst it's creepy..  Lady Gaga and Mr Hollum (who lept overboard with a Cannon ball during Master and Commander)  Gurka Marines?  It's New Year's Eve, you are going to a Big New Years Bash at the local 5 Star Hotel, as you enter the lobby, you see this....

Where was that one taken, the background looks exactly like a hotel an event I went to in Cardiff was held.
Don't recall the naked hairy guy though. Thank feth!!
Anyway, this is how I dressed for that event, assuming it's the same one.

Which Hotel in Cardiff? Was it the St Davids? The thing about cardiff is I am well used to ridiculousness, i have seen Cybermen walking around the streets, often main roads are closed at night (after 22:00) and filming takes place, it's weird seeing Matt Smith or a Dalek trundling up the street. This is the Home of Dr Who and Torchwood, we have a Dr Who museum about 800yards from me. The road signs are hilarious because they have the following on them..
I recently had an American Officer friend of mine come over stay at my place for bit. He met up with another Officer friend and all his friend wanted to see was the Silver Tower in the Bay area (mermaid quay) which is the old entrance to Torchwood. I wonder if Nottingham cashes in on it's Wargaming Connection for tourism?

Cosplay is just an excuse for dressing up. Most people like dressing up.
Dressing up parties -- or "costume balls" -- used to be a staple entertainment for adults. I think the tradition was lost in the UK because of clothes rationing in the 40s and 50s.
The difference now is only dressing up as game and cartoon characters instead of pierrots, royals and so on.

Hey, I know that, sometimes on ceremonial duties people think that our uniform is a costume (well I suppose it is) except that you have to earn the right to wear it, and the Queen authorises it. The tubby guy doing the "Emperors New clothes" is a bit special.

It was this event, you'll probably recognise the building, it's somewhere between Queens Street and City Road.
