Subject: Best Lore for Vampires, Vampire?

I've played around with a lot of lores, and short of using the Grave Star, and dumping half my army in one unit, I've found the lore of Vampires to be the most useful for me.
Curse of Years has been rivaling other big spells for sheer killing power.
Once cast, I get wounds on 6's then wounds on 5's. That kills ~45% of a unit; but unlike other uber-killers, it's an equal killer. Doesn't care if your a S5 chaos knight or an Init 5 elf.
Unlike other spells, it also can go into combat, and because it's RIP, I've found it drains my opponents dispel dice as well.
Winds of Undeath might be the best Turn 1&2 spell in the game. It can hit everything, and creating spirit hosts can be a game winner.
Van Hels gives ASF and re-roll misses. They should call this F the High Elves.
Finally, summon Undead Horde can let you dump 2 ranks of new troops onto a unit where and when you need them. A casting lord can do this with 3 dice; making it as effective as 3 Invokes, but without the risk of loss of concentration from trying to 1 die things.
Compared to other lores, vampire has never let me down.

It still makes them strike in initiative order against High Elves (since if both units have ASF, they cancel each other out and you go to initiative order). Given VC units generally poor initiative, Elves will really only be losing out on RRtH.

I thought that was the point, given its vampires using lore of the vampires?
I will say this - the best thing to me is none of the spells are over 12+ to cast, meaning if you sink all those points into a level 3 or 4 caster lord, there's less chance of miscasting. You can riskily go on 2D6 and still have a good chance to cast, or basically guarantee any spell with 3D6, not counting any dispel attempts. And less chance of a miscast with less dice, meaning less chance for your vampire general to blow itself up.

Forbidden knowledge states that you can choose any lore from the basic rule book (except life) or the lore of vampire.
From what I've played, a level 4 with Lore of Vampire doesn't need lore master. Odds of not getting a pair or at least two of the great spells is very, very, low.

BRB pg. 66 under header "Always Strikes First"
"If a model with this rule is fighting an enemy with the same ability, the Attacks are made simultaneously, and neither model benefits from the rerolls normally granted by this rule."
Yeah it is FU to HE, also why I stopped using KoS.

And Vanhels gives re-rolls to hit as well as ASF.
So high elves lose going first, lose re-rolls, and ghouls gain re-rolls and strike at the same time.
Your T3 5+ save, I'm T4 (pretty much a wash), except I've got A2 and poison, and I'm half your cost, and I can replace my losses.
Yeah, my ghouls love the taste of elf.
