Their profile boasts well but they seem like pushovers. What are they used for? Are they as effective as their profile suggests? What type of caster/army goes well with them (or vice-versa)?

For what it's worth I've never heard our local Trollblood player talk about them and I've never really had a specific issue playing against an army that used them. They seem solid but plain. Both times my opponents ran them up in my face asap. I suppose for the purpose of harassing/delaying me, it worked. I had to deal with it, which gave my opponent time and space, but I never felt like it was terrible blow or anything. Honestly I didn't feel as though the player had anything to really follow up on the tactic of using Scouts to harassing/delay, but that may just be because the first time I was playing pKaya and the other time eKaya. They both have movement to spare against Trollblood armies. This was also more then 4 months ago and the new Trollblood caster coming out in Domination may change their value.

Awesome sculpts though, the squealing pig and banjo playing whelp.

I've been toying around with running them... I don't have any models yet, but it makes it "cheaper" to run a Tier 4 eHoarluk list (instead of running Champions).

My store owner and I both play trolls, I'll see if we can get some play testing in.

The value of troll scouts is in having a relatively cheap 1W infantry squad that can't be shot by any but the most exceptional ranged units (those with eyeless/true sight).

You stick them with a Gobber Bellows Crew for the large cloud aoe and they gain concealment and therefore stealth from camouflage. This has the added bonus of giving you a fast or flanking element that can operate pretty autonomously from the central 'troll brick' that most troll warlocks utilize.

The most direct competiton for this role in Trollbloods is probably Fennblades + UA given their speed and reach, but fenns+UA will always be more expensive and have risk of getting shot up.

Your terrain setup and who you expect to play against (i.e. importance of threat range and set defence vs hunter and stealth) is probably going to predict whether you prefer Fenns or Scouts.

basically they are a solid infantry unit that doesn't rely on too much caster support, or other army support for that matter. I would play in them in eDoomy Tier 4, but other than that I have never found the points for them.
