So, Ard Boyz scenario one requires giving one troop to the opponent. What are the thoughts on tyranid players handing over the tervigon. Its annihilation so we wont want to be popping out many gaunts. I know we loose some synergy and abilities but having the tervigon in their midst should make it an easy kill, an MC sized troop with T4 W2 and a 4+.

I'm taking nids to ard boys and no..
It still gets IC rules, so it's big but can join units, and you just gave away 160 points of your army.

Make a special termagant. One holding a sign that says "this army sucks send me home"

They're in there with their bear.

Even though a tervigon is a monstrous creature, it looks to me from the scenario rules like he'd count as infantry for all purposes.

So he could ride in a transport, gets cover from standing in area terrain even when you can see more than 50%, and so forth. The only possible effect I can think of that might be different from just giving your opponent a gant model is that the model is bigger, and therefore easier to see (unless it's in a transport or in reserve).

The "traitor" model is no harder or easier to kill whether it's represented by a tervigon or a gant.

This is just a bad idea. There is really no advantage to giving the opponent a bigger model.

The disadvantage is the loss of an MC in your list and the possibility that your opponent wrecks your pretty Terv conversion.

The way the TO around here is running it ... You just grab a normal troop choice from your army type. You don't lose one troop from your list, you just pull out one and hand it over. He is bringing a bunch of extra vanilla marines in case people forgot theirs.

In your codex, the Tervigon is a HQ choice, so don't be surprised if your TO prevents you from trying to give your opponent one.
It also saves you from looking like a douche-bag. Do you really want to be TFG?
Just bring an extra warrior, genestealer, homrogaunt, or termigant to the game to hand over.

Labmouse, that is wrong though. It may be what's happening in your area, but not everywhere.

OP ask your TO what he is doing. As above different places are doing different things so best to check.

Also giving away such a good unit as a Tervigon is a little silly really, it is one of the lynchpins of a tyranid army.

I would gladly accept one of your few synapse creatures as a traitor model.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

What are other ridiculously bad choices to pass over?

Apothecary/Painboy in a Paladin, Deathwing or Nob Biker army would be pretty awesome to pass over.

A deff dread.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

It can be a Troop choice if you have Termagants in your army - which, if you're taking Tervigon you'd have to be slowed not to do.

I'm curious why this is even a question. I don't mean to be rude, but maybe I'm missing something. Why would you want to pass over a troop-producing, synapse, psychic creature that is 160+ points to your enemy?

Death Guard 5100 pts.
Daemons 3000 pts.

Well, as he pointed out the first mission will be KPs so fewer free units to pop out and give away extra points in that game. I guess it depends on what you face that day.

There's nothing forcing him to pop out gaunts. You can just elect to not spawn any if you're that worried about kp's. Giving away aprrox. 195pts for no reason.... no, just give him a gaunt.

But still, mrwhoop. A six wound, t6 MC is harder to kill than a spawned unit of gants.

Its tankbusting capacity is also much greater.

So why not keep the 160+ point critter and just not spawn rather than giving it away?

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

you do realise that the Traitor loses ALL special rules and wargear and becomes a generic IC regardless of the original model?
