So I'm about to paint an Iron Warriors Heavy Bolter, however I'm bored of looking at basecoat black -> Drybrush boltgun metal. Are there any other ways of painting Iron Warriors?

Paint Boltgun Metal, wash Badab Black, drybrush with Boltgun Metal or Chainmail. You get more depth out of it than just drybrushing straight over black.

Cheers.
I'm guessing that's what you do on yours?

I dont have a picture, but I always imagined that iron warriors would look great with a rust effect, perhaps that could carry over to the bolter. Secret Weapon Miniatures makes some great pigments that you could use.

That's pretty much what I do, except I drybrush with chainmail (or even silver) _before_ washing, I find it helps even out any inconsistencies with the drybrushing.

Ah cool - almost as if it was the armour they were wearing originally? I'll see what stuff we have in my dads modelling kit. He does Airfix, so has a lot of supplies that he never really uses. Free plasticard is the best.
