So my buddy has a terminator with a storm bolter and a powerfist and we both got into a discussion about him using it as a priest . So heres the question can any model that he nominates as a priest count as such or does the model need to have the chalice like corbolo ?

Im not larger than life , Im not taller than trees..

Models should always be equipped appropriately for what they are supposed to represent.

The sanguinary priest model from GW does not have a chalice. So I would say no, you don't need a chalice.

But as insaniak says, the model should clearly represent a sanguinary priest. So you would need a different paint job or something to make it clear it is a priest. The bigger problem is that a priest in terminator armor has a Chalice of Blood and power sword with no option to equip different weapons. So the storm bolter and powerfist would be misrepresenting the wargear.

It kinda comes down to the discretion of the players.
I mean, I know a lot of people at my FLGS don't mind if you use substitutes for models and stuff like that, but they must clearly be told that it's a sub.

Then there are a few who get really, really uptight about EVERYTHING being perfect.
Down to the last grenade on a space marines belt or something.

In the end, it's up to you.

Just beware wysiwyg I mean as long as the termie is clearly not a generic guy and you can look at him and go that's a Sanguinary Priest alright.

There aren't really rules for how big the chalice is, or where about the armour it is kept. It might be in a pocket or under the armour, or take the form of a blood drop. There is also no way to remove the chalice from the priest as wargear. So long as the opponent can identify that the model is a priest, he should also be able to infer that the model has a chalice.

As for the SB and power fist, those are not allowed on the priest as wargear so the model can only be considered a proxy. The rules for proxies are generally 'Only if your opponent agrees'.

As for nominating a model as a priest... The model should be identifiable as a priest so as to avoid confusion and cheating... "Oh that guy who just made his armour save... he is my priest"

My priest is quite an epic model, with wings and height and lots of flamboyance. He could pass for a chapter master... As a result he gets shot to pieces pretty quickly. I think if I were a shrewd tournament player (which I'm not) I would paint my model to clearly be identifiable as a priest... but only on close inspection. From a distance I'd paint him to look very much like regular squad members so as to draw as little attention as possible.

Sanguinary Priest is basicly Blood Angels' Apotechary.

As mentioned earlier:

First of all, in order to be wysiwyg Sanguinary Priest in terminator armour, he can not have power fist or storm bolter. The model can only have power sword.

For the other hand, I would either just model a cup with greenstuff, or I would try and make apotechary arm (the drill, syringes and wires).

I would then paint the model red, with white details, but that's just the way I like to follow the official painting guide.

In worst case, you need a terminator model carrying only a power sword. Having a few details that makes him stand out would be enough I'd say.

However, if you just play for fun with your friends, you could easily just ask if it's ok and clearly state that the specific model counts as a Sanuinary Priest before the game starts. Most people would accept a few count-as models.

But is it strictly wysiwyg? NO!
