So, here we are on the 12th and I still haven't seen my White Dwarf issue that my FLGS had 2 weeks ago and sold out of.

Am I the only one still waiting for their issue to show up in the mail?

I got mine just 2 days ago but I am not too far from GW HQ so I should of really had it sooner...

I suspect WD subscriptions may decline slightly this year.

it's happened to me before in the past. Just call them up (not email) and tell em, and they'll send you a new one. Once it happened and they sent me a new one and I got it on like the 20th of the month, and then the late one suddenly arrived the day after so I ended up with 2

I dont see how having two unreadable advertising pamphlets is a good thing?

That really shouldn't happen 2 weeks for a magazine that is just unreal.

Also still waiting for mine. This may be the year that I let my 15 year history with WD go, because what is the point of subscribing when I could get it in the store for nearly the same price, and sooner?

So, I did call GW this morning and the cust service guy I spoke with was very nice to me and said that he would have another copy shipped to me.

So, hopefully I get it in the next couple of days....

I'm glad to see that this looks to be an isolated incident and that there doesn't appear to be a delay in everyone's subscription. I would have been upset if I were to look at this thread and see a bunch of posts where nobody happened to get their issue...

Your not the only one. I called yesterday and the guy said I'd be put on a list. So who knows when I'll see it.

So, do I have this right:

You pay an annual subscription up front so GW has a lump sum of your cash to play with instead of you.
There are no financial benefits for stumping up the cash for 12 copies in one go.
Then, as a reward for your good faith, you get the copy after it is in the GW stores.

But I guess it guarantees that you get a copy and you don't risk missing an issue...

oh, so basically there are no benefits.

Remind me why people subscribe to WD again?

Sadly a subscription does not even guarantee you a copy any more. The person I talked to said they are trying to find copies for those who did not receive their.

While I'm slightly peeved, I'll just give them a call and I'm sure they'll work it out.

Don't you get a figure exclusive to the subscription and a discount on the cover price? I've never seen a magazine subscriptions without a cost saving.

Ok just looked it up, there is a cover saving, but if you want the figure the sub costs an extra £8. WTF?!?

I'm still surprised that the suits at GW continue to allow the monthly sales of their corporate secrets.

For some reason I thought there was no discount, which would have been unique afaik

Funny that they seem to be struggling for copies for their subscribing customers.

The ASDA down the road from my house never seems to sell their copies, at least never sell out of them. I've been around a few times when they've been putting out all the new magazine issues and spotted a handful of copies of the previous months issue of WD being put back on the trolly.

When they did free minis, it was somewhere near worth it, but the last few times I've spotted an issue with minis, the mini in question was a bag of gak.

Not exactly... I'm not sure about the UK, but in the US a subscription costs $75 for the year where if I bought it from the store I believe it runs $8.99 an issue so it would cost $107.88 plus tax for the entire year if I purchased every issue from the store. Thus, those of us who do buy a subscription get it for $6.25 an issue... While that may seem expensive for a magazine, generally I think that $6.25 to be delivered to my house is fair.

I've actually been a subscriber for the last 16 years or so and haven't had many problems to speak of. There was an incident many years ago where I moved and I had to call multiple times with my updated address, but that eventually worked out and I believe I was given some credit for my compensation...

Going back to the old days, ordering a sub to the White Dwarf was a no-brainer. Generally I would get a $15 box set just for ordering, but I can tell you that I've had some awesome deals from them just by re-subscribing....

When I spoke to the GW rep last Friday regarding this issue, he made no mention of having to put me on a list or that there would be any delay in sending my replacement issue. I hope to have it in the next couple of days and I'll let you know exactly when it shows up.

***UPDATE***
So, after calling on Friday, I checked the mail when I got home last night and my replacement copy was in a sealed envelope waiting for me in the box. I could tell that it was the replacement one since the envelope was sealed and my name and address were hand-written on the outside.

So, I'm actually going to chalk this up as a good GW cust service experience. My issue didn't show up in the mail, but after a quick phone call this was quickly resolved and I have to believe that my issue was mailed out that same day in order to arrive at my house so fast.

If there is one thing that GWUS has historically been good at, it is customer service.

Mine arrived yesterday with a letter in the plastic cover explaining how I will be getting it late from now on. I may switch to Wargames Illustrated when my WD sub is up.
