A very special epsiode of the D6 Generation in which we've recorded several segments in front of a live audience at GenCon 2011.

After a 'live' Rapid Fire we have an audience participation "Achivements in Gaming" in which folks at GenCon let us know what is hot this year.

Then Craig runs a Deathwatch live "Play by Mob" with groups of the audidence representing different Space Marines. How does it turn out? Listen and see.

Finally, we're back in the 'studio' and discuss how to get started with Battletech. There are a lot of options. What comes in the starter box and what are the next steps?

Oh, and don't miss the Hollywood minute this time around as Raef & Crew continue with part two of their comic book talk.

All that and our other not-too-horrible segments including:

- What's in the news
- Total Fan Girl
- Do You Ever Notice
- & More

Please let us know what you think!

The Play by Mob was hilarious! All RPGs should be played like that. Great piece on Battletech. I may have to add another game to my collection. Condolences to Craig. *shoots positive energy through interwebs*

Great show again! I've always been curious about Battletech, so I really appreciated the segment. My whole experience with it is watching the cartoon in the early 90s and a friend from high school telling me about their epic game sessions of it with maps laid all around their house.

Great episode. It sounds like everyone at the mob event had a good time. Maybe next year...

Battletech tempted me like again, like it did in my younger days, but i don't think i could convince anyone to jump off into that game again.

Craig, sorry for everything that went down. Hope you are feeling a little better, that is a tough situation to deal with.

Great episode guys. I missed Gencon for the first time in years (moving to Texas from Michigan made it more difficult) and getting to listen to this episode helped to fill the void.

The thing on my mind the most is Craig and what he is going through.

Craig, I grew up having a canine friend nearly my entire life and while they are pets, they certainly have their own personalities and become little members of the family. To have one pass away and another that had to leave for the other reason, I know you all must be hurting. Just remember, for Kai (not sure the spelling) as long as he gets a good home, he will be happy.
And while we give them human attributes, the one thing I have always loved about my dogs, they seem very much unable and unwilling to be upset with you (unlike us humans, lol). Dogs have that great characteristic of unwavering and unconditional love. So remember, you gave him a great life and he will continue to have a great life with his new owners.

I know what you are going through and if you ever need to chat or anything, please hit me up. My email is mbowsher76@gmail.com

Alright guys...now I have to eagerly wait 2 more weeks for the next episode and to see what greatness you will be bringing to us!

Keep up the good work.

Another absolutely fine show for the hard-drives.

The play by mob was excellent. It seemed like a good time was had by all, and the story was excellent.

Achievements was an interesting look into the con. It seems like day one is all about shopping until everything that you want is sold out. Then you can enjoy the con.

Since this is Dakka, I can't help but to drop my knee-jerk reaction to Deathwatch game with Ross. You know, sometimes you just need a sock and a a dreadnought. A heavy warjack can suffice.

The Hollywood Minute continued a great primer to comics. I haven't read Moon Knight yet, but I here that it's absolutely nuts in a good way. Chew sounds so disturbing, I don't know if I can read it. Okay, I guess that I can read it. The premise is still disturbing though.

Battletech will still be a hard sell for me. I played it back in the cardboard days. I never really got beyond taking the coolest, toughest PPC loaded 'mech. It plays better as a video-game, where hardware is taking stock of all the crunchy stuff.

I'm glad that Reese (sp?) is unscathed and well. I'm very sorry to hear of you dog's passing, Craig. My best wishes for you and yours.

Thanks for all the kind words, gents. It's been a rough couple of weeks, but all the kind words of support and condolence have gone a long way to making it a bit easier to deal.

Thanks, guys!

Far-stretching, endless Time
Brings forth all hidden things,
And buries that which once did shine.
The firm resolve falters, the sacred oath is shattered;
And let none say, "It cannot happen here".

Well, I finally got around to finishing this episode. Just not as much driving around time lately...which is also my listening time.

Play By Mob - well, I was there...so it was a refresher. It's definitely something that is much more fun in person...but it was still fun to relive it via the podcast.

Battletech - dag nabbit. I had a bunch of BT stuff...the old introductory box set from about 4 or 5 years ago, all the hardcovers prior to A Time of War (which hadn't come out yet)..and I had to sell them all off (financial hardship and being a gamer are not the most compatible of things)...but, listening to the Battletech primer this episode really has me jonesin' to get the new box set.

sigh. Someday.

@Craig - wow. man. so sorry to hear about what's gone on with your dogs. Just this past Friday we had to put my Mom's (who's 80) chihuahua (who was 15) to sleep. While it was somewhat expected on one hand (15 yrs old, health issues all her life)...it was sudden. It was never discussed before Friday morning when my Mom (who also lives in a mother-in-law suite attached to our house) stopped my daughter and I in our driveway to tell us. So, it's been a little rough around the old Cope farm this past weekend, too. Especially for my 6-1/2 yr old daughter.

But, we remember the good times and press on. The start of school this week will pull us back into the ho-hum of routine.

Hang in there.

Ok Craig, next DYEN *HAS* to be happy, ok?

Seriously, as a first time dog owner (have a 1.5 year old yellow Lab) I was nearly in tears during this segment.

Other than that, thanks for getting the show out so fast after Gen Con and can't wait till the next one!

Having just put two cats in the ground prior to my move (one of them is my avatar), you have my sympathies Craig.

As for BT, I don't normally link to other people's blogs but here is one where the artist managed to make those crappy plastic mechs look pretty good:

I'd like to add my condolences to the pile! For what its worth, I definitely feel your pain; I remember all the dogs we lost when I was growing up (5 while I was still at home, and 1 more after I moved out). Time will ease the pain, bringing the good memories to the fore.

As for the rest of the show, it was great! As others mentioned, the play by mob was hilarious, probably one of the funniest things I've heard you guys do. I think it was a great idea to recycle a previous campaign for the event, because Craig's confidence and understanding of it really shone through. Plus, for those who listened to the Lost Chapter episode, it elevated the whole event to a kind of inside joke. The rest of Gencon sounded awesome; I really wish I could have been there!

I really enjoyed Raef's 2-parter on comics; he managed to hit many of the questions I've had while browsing through the comics section at the stores I've played at. I'm actually thinking about looking into a few of the one-offs mentioned in the segment; Gotham by Gaslight sounded particularly interesting (I'm a big Batman fan).

Finally, I got a lot out of the Battletech overview. I have been curious about this system for a long time, as I have seen it at stores and mentioned here and there. Not until this segment did I fully realize the depth and breadth of the game, though! It has me contemplating a purchase of the 25th Anniversary set, although I suspect I'll never get past the quick start rules. I am finding I have the same problem as Raef; too many games and not enough time! I am just enjoying DW, FA, 40k, and FoW too much to drop them and focus solely on Battletech.

So, as I said, another great show!

Gotham by Gaslight is pretty awesome. It's almost Batman Steampunk, almost. That might be one to score off ebay, though. It can be gotten relatively cheap, or rather expensive depending on where you go.

I have just stumbled upon the X-CAM concept (from Ep 25). I was wondering if it was adapted for FOW?

Thanks for sharing!
